Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

looking forward to PIR so I can hug on my SON!! hate that he can only have 3 guests, but at least his older sister will be able to watch it online :) Wish I knew what exactly he will be doing in his division :) guess I will have to wait until I get a letter from him!! Glad to have others going through this to share with!

940: Ship Staff/Honor Guard: PIR 08/16/2013 TG 40 - 13 Divisions (299-310, and 940)
(Division 940 will also perform their duties during the 08/02/2013 PIR and 08/09/2013 PIR.)
Ship Staff is in charge on PIR day. They greet and welcome the Officers and their distinguished guests as Sideboys. They play the role of "Body Snatcher" walking up and down the rows of Sailors, watching for and sometimes catching any Sailor about to or going down. (They lock their knees sometimes and pass out.) They help the Navy Corpsmen in the back room. They guard doors and perform a myriad of tasks behind the scenes and in front, such as directing people and helping those who require a wheelchair. It is their job to help make sure all goes smoothly. The Honor Guard Drill Team also does a rifle performance at the beginning of the ceremony.

I don't really understand what duties they will have at their own graduation. Will they still be "body snatchers"?

They could still be performing if part of Honor Guard Drill Team like rifles, they also help the Corpsmen, seat people I believe.

Got my nephew's Ship and Div, that's why I am here with you fine folks :) Ship 2, Div 940...His birthday is the 9th so hoping to send a card out tomorrow and maybe he will get it the week after his birthday, j/k..Welcome all...thank you ellen0502 for your invaluable service :)
