Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 289 and 290

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My son is on Ship 12. Div 290 I am from Illinois. My son is going to A school in Mississippi.

My son is on Ship 12 Div 290.  We're from Illinois.  He is going to A school in Groton CT - Machinist Mate, sub.

That is awesome!!!! I got mine two days ago!!! I read it like 20+ times!!!!! He got sick on day 3 (ear/throat infection). :( He is talking antibiotics. He said he is feeling better now.

Super Cute Bunny Waving

Good morning all! My son is in div 290. We hail from just north of Great Lakes in Wisconsin. Sometimes its hard not to jump in the car and make an excuse to drive to Great Lakes. Can you see a line of us Moms holding the fence bars peering onto the boot camp side like little kids who want to get into a park? LOL

My son will be going to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio TX for HM after bc.

We received his first written letter on Wednesday this past week..and he too mentioned that a lot of the guys were sick already. Illnesses really run crazy in those ships. In February it was intestinal flu and pink eye that ran through the divisions..

Hopefully 290 has a mail person who can alphabetize so that our SRs are getting their mail! lol

Yes!!! I am with you!!! We are in Illinois, like 2 hours from Great Lakes. I do want to go and hold that fence. With luck I can see my son and shout I love you!!! I miss you !!! :)

We are approaching Week #3 (July2nd)!!! First Physical Training Test coming soon!

"WEEK 3:  HANDS-ON

This week, you’ll board a land-bound training ship. Everything will be hands-on, something your Recruiter told you the Navy is big on. You’ll learn everything from ship nomenclature (Names), to first aid techniques, to semaphore (signaling with flags). Classroom studies will focus on Customs and Courtesies, laws of armed conflict, money management, shipboard communication, Navy ship and aircraft identification, and basic seamanship.  In week 3 you will also have your first physical training (PT) test." Military.com

I am not sure if this is good or bad, but I like to know what my SR is doing week by week so I can write him and encourage him! I am not sure how reliable this website is, but at least it gives me an idea. Hope it helps!

I miss my SR sooo much :(

FYI: Ship 12 DIV 290 is calling!!!!  just talked to my SR! He is doing good. :)  Got his wisdom teeth removed (4). He said he is in a bit of pain, but that is undertandable. I miss him soo much. It was sooooo great to hear his voice. He said "I love you mom, I miss you mom, I really love you"... :'(

Ohhh too bad about the wisdom teeth but then again they get to be SIQ (sick in quarters) for up to 4 days after the extractions..which means extra SLEEP!  But it is amazing how many I love yous you'll get from your SR during boot camp and beyond. NOW they realize we weren't being mean! just being a parent. lol

He said he got some sleep time :) He was reealllyy happy about that!! And he says he misses me and everyone at home, including the dogs :)

I soooo want to hug him!

Sorry haven't been on lately..been working at Summerfest until the wee hours of the morning. I know how our SRs feel with the lack of sleep and getting yelled at (but mine is by drunk people LOL) Got the call on Saturday while I was working and looked at my supervisor and said GOT TO TAKE THIS! and scooted to a quiet area. The boy needed lots of reassurance this time that he's made the right decision. The problem is that he's bored to tears and is tired which gives him LOTS of time to think! Not a good idea for this child! So with the proper words and an upbeat attitude I gave him what I could. He did say that they were going to lose about 15 guys this next week who kept failing their PFA and written tests. They were most likely being sent back in the training. Looks like the White Sox are going to get off cheap with the uniform costs lol.

Can you believe it's only 30 more days until we see those big bay doors open and all those marching feet as it rises?? I cannot wait! AND we should be seated close to the doors as our division is only 3 in from the starting numbers :) So we'll get a fantastic view!

My daughter is in Ship 12 ,DIV 289 and she is going to A school in Pensacola.
