Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 307 and 308

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hello ladies l just got a letter from my son. He's in another ship now.I hope he gets his letters.

Hey girls, hubby texted me to tell me I got a letter from our boy today while i was at work... i made him open it & read it to me !  of course it made me mist up... He's doing great, outside of missing everyone & said that our letters & pictures really help him get through the crap days... That just made me so happy to hear !   The one thing he said & i don't now if you girls are aware of it or not is NO mail after Aug 5th. He didn't specify why, but thats ok cause in 11 days from then we will see our SR !!!!!  getting so excited for them.  now i just need to go to costco tomorrow & pick him up some contacts to wear for the graduation so he doesn't have to wear glasses.

well ladies, it's 2:45am here so i think i had better get back to bed. first i think i want to start a reply to his letter :)

sleep well & sweet dreams

Lauri

My husband wants to get a navy polo shirt before graduation - where is the best place to order one online?  Also, does where the SR is going for graduation have any impact on the airport they will fly out of?  Thanks much for your help,

sorry hun,  no idea, other than to google Navy Apparel ?   We will be at Sarges Meet & Greet and staying at the Courtyard Marriott if anyone else is staying there...

I made pins to wear for my, hubby & my dad the day of graduation, they came out really cute... we used to do stuff like that for the kids for Cheerleading & football & then i started doing it for my son's hockey team.

If you havent seen the info on Public Display of Affection, deffinatley read up on it...   look up PIR 8-16-13,  there is alot of info in there... cant wait to meet you all

Lauri

GregsMom:  I had answered this on BootCamp Moms, but that site moves fast, so you may not have seen my posts.  Here they are:

GregsMom:  The sites listed on this page don't have much of a selection.  Here is another site where your husband may find what he wants in a US Navy polo shirt:

GregsMom:  Yes, many times, the sailors will fly out of the same airport each week when going to a particular base.  However, you will find out that nothing is written in stone in the Navy!  :-)  If you would like to see what airport the sailors normally fly from for a particular base, then join that A School group and ask on there.  You will be able to get lots of info re: A School by joining that group now (if you know where your sailor will be going for A School).

As far as the Navy polo, you can check the companies listed to the right of this page under the "N4Moms merchandise" title.  Of course, the NEX will have them too, but without your sailor, unless you are a military family anyway, you won't be able to shop there until PIR.  I assume your husband wants to wear it to PIR?  If you stay at Navy Lodge for PIR, they give you a "pass" to a smaller NEX in the area that you can shop in without your sailor.  That NEX possibly could have some too.

Thanks Dianne, I appreciate your patience  - I checked the sites on N4Moms, but didn't find exactly what my husband described.  He is working away from home for long stretches and doesn't have access to the Internet, so I think I'll wait until we get to Great Lakes.  Sorry for missing the posts - I'm having a hard time keeping up with the kids, working and house work - I wish I had more time to go through the site.  I'm just hoping I'm not missing something important.

I joined the A School group and it sounds like Greg will be responsible for making his own flight arrangements and paying for them.  Is this true?  I didn't send his debit card because I thought I would bring it for PIR, but know I'm thinking he may need it in advance.

Thanks again Dianne, you and the other site hosts have been a God send.

The Navy will make and pay for all Navy travel needs from one Navy location to the next, but will not pay to and from "home". So, if your sailor comes home on leave after school and before permanent duty the sailor will pay the difference in the ticket price from home to their duty station.

Example: Sailor XXXX is currently in Virginia for school, will be stationed in San Diego, but is flying home to Montana for leave after school. The Navy will make travel arrangements from Virginia to San Diego and the cost to the Navy is $450. Here is the "sailor paid" one part, two part redirect please Navy conundrum for the sailor. :)

Tickets are generally not redirected until approx 72 hours before it's time to go, so...Sailor XXX probably needs to make arrangements (and pay for them) to get from Montana to Virginia to make that Navy ticketed flight from Virginia to San Diego (not all redirects can be accommodated so be prepared) . When notified that travel is complete from Virginia to San Diego Sailor XXXX then calls and asks for a redirect from Montana to San Diego.

The redirect goes through and the ticket price from Montana to San Diego is $550, Sailor XXXX is responsible for the $100 difference, and would then cancel the flight they made from Montana (yep purchase refundable ticket).

I hope that makes it a little clearer.

Thanks Ellen - that helps a great deal.  It makes total sense.

Hi Lauri - how are you doing?  I hope you have a super day.  Didn't find the info on Public Display of Affection section, but I'm sure the Navy can stand a few Mom tears and a Great BIG hug for my recruit:).  Heck - I might even be willing to give his RDC a Hug too lol,

I'm glad you see your son, too.  I HATE waiting.  Guess I'd better get used to it, looks like it will be this way for the next 6 years.  :)

I'm learning patience the Navy way.   My husband was in the Army and I didn't make a very good Army wife either!

LOL, mine was a Marine.  I tried my best but...
