catching up on the notes, so here are a bunch:

Good Morning,

I will like to first start by saying thank you to Susan S and the
people at Heads at Ease for taking time out of there day to make these
great pillowcases for us military personnel. It is people like you that
make a difference in our lives some never may not receive any packages,
but when we do specially from people that they don't know it makes a
difference so once again thank you for your support and for your gifts
have a great day and a great upcoming holidays.

Very Respectfully,

I got one of the pillowcases and I wanted to thank you. You definitely made my stress level go down a little bit knowing that someone is thinking about us.  Joshua

Dear Heads At Ease,

On behalf of CR division onboard USS Boxer, I would like to take the time to thank you for the pillow cases. For something that we usually don’t think twice about, we’re really excited about these pillowcases. They definitely will had some color to our racks and bring some of the love from home to us, as we sleep each night. Also we enjoyed reading about the fellow sailors who had served onboard the various ships to proudly carry the name USS Boxer. Again thank you this gesture of love and for reminding us of the people that are awaiting our safe return.

this is a 2 part thank you.   Get the tissues out!

Hello,

My name is Marqueta  and I am a Sailor deployed onboard USS Boxer.  I’m writing to say thank you for the hand crafted pillow case.  Onboard ship, we’re so used to “setting the standard” with white sheets and pillow cases.  Putting your case on my pillow gave me a feeling of being back home.  Thank you so much!

Very Respectfully,

AO1(AW/SW) Marqueta

Hello Mrs. Lamberson!  I have one that was hand crafted by Ama D

.  It's funny that you say you thought pillowcases would be a frivolous item.  Surprisingly, as you can see, when we are deployed, any touch of love means the world to us.  My four year old daughter send me a hand make painting that she made in daycare and it hangs proudly in my office :-).  Yes, the pillowcases ARE a permanent hugs.  This is my 6th deployment and I've been in for 17 years.  I was stationed onboard the USS Nimitz and USS Reagan which were both aircraft carriers.  Congrats on the baby coming!  Your son must be excited!!

Deployment is going very well this time.  Out of all my deployments, this is the second one that I've been on where the temperature hasn't been over 115 degrees.  I did a deployment in 2008 with the Nimitz where we went to Korea during the winter time and it was freezing!!  I wore snow gear the whole time we were there.  This time, it's been bearable for the most part, not too cold, not too hot but warmer than San Diego.

You thanked me for my service...I would like to thank you for your service.  I've never met your son but he is my shipmate and I'm thankful for what you have done for the military and our crew.  The pillowcases have been the talk of my junior troops for days.  One comment I heard from my newest Sailor was, "looking at all of the different pillowcases made it easier for me to adjust from being away from home".  That comment brought a tear to my eye, a smile on my face and joy in my heart.  Again, thank you and we appreciate the time, effort and love put into the pillowcases!

Aw, Sue, I have tears in my eyes....

What a wonderful story.  I have a few tears too.  Thank you Sue.  Can't wait to send my first batch!

Glad you all like the notes.   I got an email from Susan S today and here's what she said:

Also, I received a postcard today with the picture of the USS Boxer. Note was as follows:
"I just wanted to say thank you for the pillow cases and treats we received. We appreciate all of the support we get from back home. I hope we can continue to make everyone back home proud of what we do."
 Sgt. Michael D.
VMM-166 (MWSS)
 Unit 26052

Always great to receive "snail mail" from these proud young service people. The postcard was like receiving a smile in my mailbox!

 Susan

I am catching up!

Dear Heads At Ease,

I received one of your beautiful pillowcases.  Thank you so much for thinking about us and sharing your time and talent to provide us with the decorative pillowcases.  The one I received matches my sheets.  And it brightens my day when I look at it.  Many thanks to Shana H for making it.  I know Mr. Jack Davis is honored and proud of all the work you do.

Thanks again!  Merry Christmas!

I am going to add the notes from the USS Harpers Ferry and the USS New Orleans into this thread as they are also carrying the 13th MEU:

Good morning Terry S,

I first would like to say thank you for your support of the military. Due to our deployment schedule, it’s heartbreaking that we aren’t able to home for the holidays due to our duties and responsibilities to our country; however, it’s citizens like you which makes our mission and carrying out our daily actions worthwhile.  When I received the pillowcases in the mail, I was extremely excited. It made me feel good to know that we have supporters who care and pray for us. So now, when I fall asleep, I DO take comfort in the love that was sent with it. Thank you again.

Happy Holidays,

IC3 (SW) Hxxx
