Help!
I havent heard from my son in almost 4 weeks. He graduates March 7th then off to A school in Pensacola. We are trying to make travel plans
How much time will I be able to spend with him before he flies to FL. The PDF on navy.mil states sailors typically leave the morning after graduation.
Im just looking for other family experiences

I agree with everything Gtfmom said. I had planned to be in Chicago the whole weekend, flying out on Monday, because I wasn't sure what was happening with my son. His birthday was 2 days after PIR. It turns out, Ma Navy doesn't care if he spends his birthday with his mom! He left from O'Hare at 1845 but was dropped off at 0630. I had the whole day with him in the terminal. They are very nice about giving passes to Navy families to allow them to go right to the gate with them. He did have to go with me at the reservation desk when I got the pass. I flew out on Monday. I spent Sunday at the Art Institute! Amazing...want to go back to see all I had missed. :-)
Join the PIR group for your SR. There is lost of information posted there and others with loved ones in the same TG and division as your son.

Yes, he will most likely fly out the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
