I have to say I was so unprepared for the feelings I am experiencing at this time. My only son left July 8 for boot camp up in Great Lakes and I am a WRECK! I can't sleep I don't eat and I just miss him terribly. We have been waiting for this day since he enlisted back in October but I don't think any amount of time could get you ready for this. I am finding I need a lot of support. :(

I totally understand where you are coming from. My son got to Great Lakes on Wednesday, July 9th and I have done nothing but cry since he left. I can barely eat or sleep. There is no one or nothing anyone can do to prepare you for this. I thought I had all emotions under control and would be good to go after he left. Boy, was I wrong. I know this is what he wanted, I'm happy as his mom that he made this choice, but my heart still aches. This site seems to be great for getting some feed back and support from other moms
Join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in July to connect with others with loved ones who arrived the same day and may have PIR together. It will help you to see that you are not alone.
Check your My Page.
We dropped our son off at the recruiter's office on July 7th. And as we were leaving the only thing I could think to say was; "Do your best. I love you." He looked so young as we walked out of the office, but he was so excited and I knew the more upset I got, the harder it would be for him. LOL...I think the only thing that upsets my son sometimes, is seeing me cry! He enlisted in June of 2013, and I just thought-"Oh, we have a year." That was the fastest year of my life! Walking by his room, or seeing his things boxed up on the shelves is harder than I thought it would be.
Thank you Robin. This really means so much to me. I am crying as I type this...I just miss him so much sometimes I find it hard to function. I know it's a good thing, I just miss my boy. :(
Thank you! I definitely need strength right now. How do I find out his rating? Would it be in his form that comes in the "box" ?
I see you figured it out.
Rating = Navy Job
Its in his contract. After Boot Camp he will go to "A" school to learn his trade. The list of groups by job is here: http://navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-navy-job
