Hello all! I was just wondering if there are any parents who have experienced attending PIR with their toddler or if a grandparent has with their toddler grandchild? I will be traveling with my 2 year old son to GL from CA and I was just wondering how the weather would be in November, my son gets excited sometimes especially with new surroundings so I just wanted to know what to expect. Also generally how long do you stay? Thanks in advance!

It will most likely be cold even in the Drill Hall. It is noisy at times in the Drill Hall. Watch a live stream at http://www.livestream.com/usnavyrtc or http://navylive.dodlive.mil/ to have an idea of how things will be.

See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

You will be in Drill Hall about 4 hours.  You need to get there early for good seat.  In July at my son's PIR there were young children and some did well and some did not.  They did not want to sit in bleachers and were fussy and crying.  You can not get up and walk around once the ceremony starts.  If you are near the exit It is easier to leave with a small child.  My son was in the last division so he was near the exit and restrooms on the far end and I saw a couple of parents take out small children for potty or because they were crying.  It will be chilly if not cold in Drill Hall.  It is chilly even in the summer, just think of all those Sailors in uniforms, they get hot.

Thank you for your reply! :)

My son is only one so an iPad and earbuds won't work.. :(
Oh I understand Jessica, but they do have apps that keep them pretty entertained for a bit like the fisher price black and white one and they don't really require sound to be enjoyed. Just a thought. Other than that have you thought of bringing your carrier to baby wear during PIR? Maybe he'll stay asleep?
