Anyone know where we can order a traditional meal for Thanksgiving dinner?  I really would like to order a meal to take back to the hotel.  If no such place, can you offer a suggestion for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner out.

Hello everybody - am I correct in understanding that the SRs have a Thanksgiving break? what about Christmas?  our son is schedule to finish 12/31.  So proud of him.

Hi Irene. They sent out a form via your SR to "adopt" him for Thanksgiving day. It was supposed to be completed and faxed or emailed back to RTC by the 7th. My son will be out of there before Christmas, so I'm not sure. Maybe they'll do the same thing. I hope you get to see him!

Irene, your recruit will have no "break" on Thanksgiving. He will enjoy holiday routine and will have a nice meal. He may be in the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program. If he is eligible you will receive a form letting you know about that and what you need to do if you are able to adopt him that day. See the Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology)for more info on holiday routine and the Adopt-A-Sailor program.

Does anyone know if they will have this option for Christmas? My husband left on Nov 18th so thanksgiving is out of the question!

Your recruit will most likely not be in the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program since his PIR will be 01/16/2015 unless the RTC chooses to skip the TG after Christmas for that program and adopt out the first two TG's in January, in which case your recruit would be eligible. Your recruit will send you info on the program if he is eligible.

He will enjoy a nice meal and holiday routine, including the opportunity to attend chapel if he desires, and little or no training. His RDC MAY schedule a call that afternoon, but don't count on a call, but be pleasantly surprised if you do receive a call. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls for more information.

See the Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology)for more info on holiday routine and the Adopt-A-Sailor program.

The TG's in the Adopt-A-Sailor program this year are the 12/31/2014 and 01/09/2015 TG's, so Melshantell, you will not be able to adopt your recruit for Christmas.

Darn, missed it by a week!

Thank you so much for all of your info! I have learned so much from you! :)

Sometimes that's how things go.

You are very welcome.
