Hello,

I am serving onboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8) currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf.  Today I received a very nice pillowcase from Susan of Lorain, Ohio.

Thank you so much for thinking of us.

Respectfully,Joy AIMD Leading Chief Petty Officer

Wave 4 is finished and we were able to complete the ship in 4 waves!  AWESOME!  Catching up on some thank you notes:

Good afternoon,

I would like to say thank you to your staff for sending us the pillow
cases they are very nice.  While I was packing for deployment I looked
in my closet and I grabbed a few pillow cases they were solid in color
and I only got two.  I realized I needed more.  What a coincidence you
sent us pillow cases.  We get issued standard white pillow cases but
there is nothing like seeing the pillow cases like your have designed,
it really brings back memories and gives a sense of being home.  Thanks
again.

I just received a pillow case that you  hand sewn. It's the blue and Red
Stars pattern.  First I would to say thank you for taking the time out
of your busy days and do this for our deployed troops .   It's great to
know someone or an organization of American people are thinking of us
and wanting to give the comfort of home when we are far away from our
home stations. Please thank the organization and people for sharing
their love and time.

Jean thank you and God Bless you and your Family.

Timothy (MSgt) USMC

These are the pcs that I sent on Oct.  Jean is a local sewer and she is the one who hired me to work for the school district!  She's retired now:

Hi Miss Ginnie,

I recieved you wonderful pillow case and I really appreciate them.
Thank you for thinking about your sailors. Have a great day

Good Morning Moms,

I’m EM1 Hubert  off the USS MAKIN ISLAND LHD 8. I just wanted to take the time out to show my deepest appreciation for what you ladies do. I am a proud owner of one of those beautiful pillowcases that you ladies took the time out to make. After close to 2 months out to sea, I really needed the morale booster. Thank you ladies for everything you do, it means so much too all the deployed military personnel.

To the team at Heads at Ease,
I would like to take the time to thank you so much for the
pillow cases I received for my Marines. It was greatly appreciated.
Especially at this point in our deployment, about half-way, where those
small gestures from state-side can mean a lot to a warrior. Again, thank
you for your time, hard work, and dedication.  God bless.

Sgt. Mason T.

Maryellen,

We may have just about received all the boxes you and your volunteers have sent. I want to tell you “Thank You” for this incredible feat you have done. These pillow cases have meant more than you know to so many.

We have given these out to almost all of the Sailors and Marines. You and your volunteers should be receiving thank you notes from various Sailors and Marines expressing their gratitude. My staff has made sure that each of your volunteers will receive a thank you note from an individual or in some cases entire divisions.

I’ve gotta tell you, I was amazed to receive mine today. I am so impressed that you took the time to incorporate the Chaplain Corps logo on it. I love that logo and I’m proud of it. In fact, I ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a group of in Texas bikers fixed it up for me and painted that logo on the gas tank. I appreciate what you have done for me and for this crew. Thank you!

We will be sending you some photos of our crew receiving their pillow cases very soon. Thanks again!

Blessings to you and your team!

Very Respectfully,
Chaplain Moore
