My son is leaving next Thursday. We are having a party for him Saturday. I am having a cake made. There is a place on the cake to put his name. What is the title for someone leaving for bootcamp? Would he have something before his name? Thanks.

Debbie

My son is leaving 4/7/2015-and Easter Sunday is the weekend before-I am planning a small family and close friends party. Did you do anything special for your party? I am looking for ideas.

tbbl, Check the date of the discussions before posting a reply.

Go to the Forums Tab above and type "Anchors Aweigh Party" (also "Anchors Away Party" since some don't know the correct spelling) in the search box and then check out the links that come up. Do the same in the search box in the "Groups" tab if you don't come up with enough ideas.

You can also go to Pinterest and type "Navy going away Party" as well as "Anchors Aweigh Party" and "Anchors Away Party" for more ideas.

thanks lemonelephant-leave it to me to mess things up!

You are very welcome. As my Sailor would say, "It's all good!"

It's made for some interesting reading.

tbbl....

My son is leaving the same day... I wanted to do a huge party ...rent a hall the whole works...my son wants something smaller.... thinking about just doing something on Easter with the family....

antsmom....maybe they will be in the same group....my son Sean will be leaving from McFuire/Ft Dix  (NJ) on 4/7. He too asked me not to do anything special-so we are having close family and two military neighbors that he used for his recommendations.

I started the same reply, but realized the original post is two years old.

No, SR=Seaman Recruit.

There are "Sailors" and there are "Recruits", but there is no such thing as a "Sailor Recruit." SR stands for "Seaman Recruit" and is what all recruits are considered while in BC regardless of what they will be after BC. See the Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), to help you with many of the new terms you will come across.

Also, note that you are replying to a mom who has had a Sailor since before his PIR on 06/07/2013. Please check the date of the comment before replying.

S R o r "Seaman Recruit"  is how I address my letters..

Also it's Last name, First name..  that might be cute on the cake

"SR Last, First"

There's another mom above who said her son leaves 4/7/2015 though... and one more after that who says her son leaves that same day... I think that is where the replies are directed :)

Actually that is something I am curious about, should another post have been made for something like this? I have noticed dates from several years back but the post is still pertinent to questions I kinda have, so should I look there first and then make my own post if I still have unanswered questions?
