first letter
My arrived at basic ten days ago and still no letter. My understanding was that there would be a form letter sent with his address on it, not by him necessarily. Then the Navy family guide says recruits themselves send a letter the first week. Well, I haven't received any letter yet and I can't stop worrying about it. I have visions of my boy wondering, "Why hasn't mom sent me any mail?" ugh. Anyway, is it a form letter or a personal letter? When should it be here? I have a friend whose son left the same week and she got her letter several days ago.

I was hoping Friday the 13th was going to be good luck!! Not :( still nothing yes the wondering will drive us crazy, some people do better than others guess we will see.

Yeah this is heart wrenching! I was hoping to to have an address by now it's my sons birthday today and couldn't even wish him a happy birthday :( Hopefully we hear something this week.

Hey! No letter, but he called me about half an hour ago! I am elated!!!!!!! Proudmomjlo, he hasn't even sent his letter yet. There was some kind of problem with it. He'll mail it this week, though. I'm wondering if it's the same with you. I'm sorry you didn't get to say happy birthday. That is gut wrenching. If my son's words hold true for your son, they are doing fine. My Robin says he has made some excellent friends. They are like family, he says. Take heart. :)

That's great, RobinsMom96! My son arrived at Boot Camp 9 days ago, no Form Letter yet, but I see from this discussion that it's typical. I am deaf so my son cannot call my phone, he will probably call my husband's cell, so I keep reminding my husband to look at his calls because he often ignores his calls--it would be TERRIBLE if my son calls and nobody answers. I'm assuming my son's PIR will be May 1 but am waiting on the Form Letter to confirm this. Ahhhh, patience is indeed a virtue :)

Got the form letter today! Never been so happy to see a piece of mail :) My son is Ship 02 Div 925. PIR 5/1. I couldn't make it to the post office fast enough to mail the stack of letters we have been writing.

When son was in BC I got his third letter before I got his first and second. Really no worries, they are so busy and tired out it's better that way... trust me.

My son left 2/26. It's cool that you got your letter. I just got mine a few days ago. He hadn't even mailed it yet when he called last Saturday. lol

It takes a while. I've learned that there are a lot of factors. It's wonderful when it happens, though. I couldn't stop crying from joy.
