OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A question about terminology...
My Son is in Bahrain for the second time in two years. He went over, returned to San Diego for a short time, then back to Bahrain.
Would I say "this is his second deployment to Bahrain" or "this is his second tour to Bahrain" or neither? Or is either correct?

If Bahrain is his permanent duty station, then it is a tour. If his orders were for one year, and he got a second set of orders, then it is his second tour. If he had orders which were two years long, and returned to San Diego for training or a TAD/TDY assignment (temporary duty while still attached to the command in Bahrain), then he is still on his first tour.
Deployment would be if he is assigned to a deployable unit which has a home base in one place, and goes to perform a mission elsewhere. So if he were in an air wing which is sent to Bahrain (for example), then he would be deployed.

WOW, complete answer and still somewhat confusing.
My understanding is, he did his time there (one year),he and his crew returned to their home base of San Diego. He requested to go back over there for another year (turned into longer) in exchange so after he might change to working with SO or other operations, so he went back again, then hopefully elsewhere.
I guess I'm going to say he is on his second tour over there.
