Hello, My name is Debbie and my daughter Aolani left for bootcamp on Aug 18th. So she is 2 days into the next stage of her life and all I can think about is what she is doing every minute of the day. My biggest fear is that she is emotionally ok. The physicall part I have no worries as she was very well prepared physically. Emotionally she was ready to leave and begin her career however me as a mother I worry about her emotions. Typical mother I guess.
I laid my phone down next to my face the night she flew to ORD and tossed and turned waiting for the phone call. She sounded GREAT. She sounded excited and that made me feel better. How do mothers and fathers get thru each day wondering what there child is doing. Did they get enough sleep? Have they cried? Are they in control of there emotions? Are they OK?
Graduation? When will I know the actual graduation date so I can prepare for travel arrangments.
Thanks everyone mom for there support and GOD BLESS!

Thank you for this information, my son leaves in a few weeks, I have been wondering and worrying these past few days about so many things. I am sure that I will be spending a lot more time here on the fourm. I am so grateful that there will be a place to go for help, while, my son begins this new chapter in his life, I often read, The sailors creed and think to myself that my son (all our son's and daughters) have taken an oath to defend freedom, with honor, courage, committed to excellence and fair treatment of all. These are the most humbling times for me over these past weeks, filled with many tears. I will keep all our children in my prayers. AA
Thanks Angie. I was wondering since both of our children arrived at the same time, if they might be in the same squad...that would be cool. I also wonder if they post any videos of there squad on youtube. It would be so fun to watch. I have watched every other video on youtube that you can watch.
No videos, but check out https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand. The PAO posts random photos randomly. The PAO does not usually identify the division/s photoed, so you have to look through all of them. There is no guarantee that your recruit will be photoed, but it is fun to look at the photos and get an idea of what is happening at the RTC.
It's divisions at the RTC, not squads.
Thanks everyone for there comments and words of encouragement
Shannon, Did you receive the form letter? If so, make your reservations NOW. Don't wait. Why would a recruiter give such STUPID advice? Making arrangements as soon as you know the PIR date ensures that you have a place to stay, saves you money in some cases--especially if you have to make flight reservations, and once you write to your recruit and tell her that you have made reservations, sends the message to her that you believe in her and will be there for PIR. Those delays that the recruiter mentions sometimes don't happen until the last PFA and that is less than a week before PIR and you those who pass and go on to BST sometimes don't call until just a few days before PIR, so you do not want to wait for the "I'm a Sailor!" call to make reservations. See the info in Battle Stations-21 (BST). Make your reservations NOW if you have received The Form Letter. See Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you plan your weekend.
Check your My Page.
My daughter left on the 19th and I got her box yesterday. I haven't received a form letter yet either. I called the recruiters office for her address and they keep telling me they don't have it yet. Did you get an address for your daughter? I also have so many questions. I worry that she thinks I forgot her already because she hasn't gotten a letter from me yet. I hope you got her form letter to day will give me hope that mine is coming soon! Good luck!
