My son's PiR is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Does anyone know if he will have leave for the holiday.  He is staying in GL of A training.

No leave, i.e.vacation time, just daytime/evening liberty (50 mile radius, returning to base each night) for the whole holiday weekend.

Thanks

MomJ0105 - what is your son's ship/division?

My son graduate 11-25-15 ship 02 div 903
His A school is in San Antonio Texas will he have leave after graduation??

Not after boot camp; he will probably go directly to TX the next day after PIR.  Leave after A school is normal, plus he will be in school for the holiday stand down.  Expect to see him at Christmas, on leave at home.

Barbie Doll - The lingo is new so let me explain...

Leave is earned time off, think "vacation days" (as was mentioned).

Liberty is regular time off. After the work day is completed. Weekends and Holidays. There are different parameters for Liberty at each Ship, Base, School.

As far as Liberty after Graduation from BC. The newly Graduated Sailors that will be flying out to their "A" Schools will have daytime, (meaning no overnights. Return time is usually in the evening), Liberty Wednesday after PIR  and Thursday (you'll find out the times from your Sailor) . Right now RTC's plans are for the new Sailors to depart for their A schools on Friday. They board buses in large groups and are taken to the airports in the wee small hours.

Occasionally, some new Sailors who are flying out get an extra day of Liberty if there is not enough flight availability to accommodate them all. It is not a common occurrence.

Thank you so much for this helpful information. My son is  graduating 11/25 and I have been combing sites trying to find out if he will have liberty on Thanksgiving.  I fly in on Tuesday and will leave on Friday morning. He is going to school in Pensacola so assume he will likely leave on Friday based on this information. How do I get him his cell phone? Laptop? Are they allowed at some point or is it best to mail it to him once he checks in to A school?

auntumnnek, You may be able to meet him at the airport since the new Sailors often arrive at the airport in the wee hours of the morning. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Hi autumnnek72 my son is going to school in Pensacola. Too
Where are you from ?
Message me
I have a friend who's son just graduated and after the graduation after and he went back to get his things she was able to give him his cell phone etc . What are y'all doing for thanksgiving ? I was caking to see what is open in Chicago
It will just be my son and I .

Rainbow, since your then Sailor is flying out, he will be able to use his cell phone while on Liberty, but he will have to return it to you when you return him to the RTC at the end of Liberty on Wednesday and Thursday. You will be able to meet him at the airport on Friday (possibly on Saturday since he is flying to Pensacola--be prepared for that by not leaving until Saturday or Sunday, but don't count on it) and give him his cell phone and other things. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Hi Rainbow,

I tried to message you but we have to be friends.  I sent you a friend request so we can chat and see - maybe our sons are in the same division!
