OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Good Morning Ladies hope all is well, Tina your PIR is Listed on Boot Camp for moms. please join.

Right now the only news I have received from My Sailor is that they are not getting paid. Not sure about any holding back from joining or leaving to BC.

Hope you all have a great Day!

My son is currently at boot camp with PIR of March 02, 2018. DIV 112.

My son was scheduled to leave or BC on May 23rd. He was offered a bonus if he left in January. He agreed and signed the paperwork for the bonus. A week later he was told that there was no longer any positions available for the job that he has originally signed up for when joining the Navy. They offered him a new position. He has verbally agreed to take the new position. For the last week we have received no news (partially because of the weather in the south shutting everything down). With the government shut down, what are the chances of him leaving for BC in January? My son quit his job thinking he was going to leave in the next two weeks. We feel abandoned no knowing when he is leaving or what he is doing. We have called his On-Boarder, but no one answered and no VM option.

Missomd and RNmom.... Military continues as normal during a shut down. I was certainly assume this would include BC.  Also paydays are 1st and 15 of the month so if he left on the 9th, he's not actual due one until Feb 1.  Hope this helps

Rnmom...I would like to know as well. When will we know if kids are sent home from boot camp? Does this happen? Do they wait a week? I know my son who left 1/9 hasn't received first paycheck so I'm sure that will be delayed? Can anyone help with answers?

Hi there, does anyone have info related to "what happens with their ship dates if there is a 'government shutdown'?" Thanks!

Good Morning Dianab717 Glad to have you along, and you are so on point about them still being our babies. Welcome to the site.

Hi. New mom here. My son is going to BC on Feb. 8. He's one of the older ones - 27, college grad, four years of work under his belt. But "this" is his passion and he is finally pursuing it. I'm so excited for this group because moms know how to ask the right questions and get the right answers. We have learned so much from this group. I am so thankful, because at the end of the day, they are still our babies.
