OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Sailor Quote Sunday

"I have a son. I love my son. I want everything that I do to be so safe that I would be happy to have my son operating it. That's my fundamental rule."

My son is home for 11 days. We are so happy. I've never been so proud of him. I just wish he was able to stay longer.

Before I was a mom, this is not my work however it does say how I feel.

Before I was a Mom,

I never tripped over toys

or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not

my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,

I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind

and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,

I never held down a screaming child

so doctors could do tests.

Sailor Quote Sunday

"We have met the enemy and they are ours..."

Oliver Hazard Perry's immortal dispatch Major General William Henry Harrison after the Battle of Lake Erie, 10 September 1813, "we have met the enemy and they are ours--two ships, two brigs, one schooner and one sloop." The victory secured the Great Lakes region for the United States and ended the threat on invasion from that quarter.

Well, it may not be an appointment to the Naval Academy but ....

OMG, how excited I felt and my son was clearly pleased as well (but of course had his teenaged coolness prevailed). Once I got past the first few words I realized that he had NOT been accepted into the Naval Academy as a "direct admit," the… Continue

{The other side of the story} China says U.S. naval ship broke the law

BEIJING (Reuters) – China said on Tuesday that a U.S. Navy ship involved in a confrontation with its fleet off the southern island of Hainan had violated international and Chinese laws.

U.S. says Chinese vessels harassed Navy ship

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States Monday urged China to observe international maritime rules after the Pentagon said five Chinese ships, including a naval vessel, harassed a U.S. Navy ship in international waters.

The Chinese vessels "shadowed and aggressively maneuvered in dangerously close proximity" to the USNS Impeccable on Sunday, with one vessel coming within 25 feet of the U.S. ship, a U.S. Defense Department statement said.

Sailor Quote Sunday

"The ocean has always been a salve to my soul...the best thing for a cut or abrasion was to go swimming in salt water. Later down the road of life, I made the discovery that salt water was also good for the mental abrasions one inevitably acquires on land."
