Ella

Hi thank you all for the support. My son left for boot camp from Michigan to great lakes, we got the call he made it, but I'm wondering if someone knows about graduation. I also saw on this helpful website that we can only have 4people attend graduation. Is there anyone in Michigan who's son/daughter left on 3/11?

My fiancé and I want to get married when he gets out of A school in December... Dose anyone know if that will be ok or will we have to get permission?

I checked with our daughters recruiter and he does not have her permanent email address just yet, but he did have her graduation date of May 2nd. He recommended to check back on Monday.

Daughter is unsure....mom beside herself

Did any of your children experience anxiety, unsure if they made the right choice to join the Navy? My daughter all of a sudden is questioning herself... She signed the paperwork and is waiting for her MEPS AND ASVAP DATE... Should I be concerned or is this normal?

Daughter off to Basic!

Our daughter Allie left for basic training March 4th. She called at 1:30am Wednesday March 5th, short conversation but I understand. We received her box with belongings yesterday, I was sad to see that she could not keep her pocket bible along with other items. This is definitely different from my Army basic training. Does anyone know if I can mail her the bible and some pictures? I was hoping to get an address where I could write to her in the box, I guess I have to wait until she writes.…

My boy just picked his Navy career

I pushed this idea.

I have this amazingly intelligent kid that chose not to "excel or stand out " in anything.  He made good grades, he was in Marching Band, he was in Boy Scouts - he did however get his Eagle Scout (at the 11th hour).... But otherwise nothing "overly outstanding".   He tends to float through life almost undetected - except for being "the kid that never causes any problems and is a pleasure to be around".  I had a teacher describe him one time as the "cool side of…

So Sad

Hello Moms,

My one and only son decided to leave college after last semester and join the Navy! I cried for 3 straight days. My biggest issue was cutting the apron strings, but also because he actually made the decision on his own. I didn't expect him to make such big decisions without consulting me. Then I came to the realization that he was an adult and had a plan. So, what can I do? I researched and asked around until I understood what he wanted in life. And, it was that greatest… Continue

Spice

Ladies,

I lost my son Adam in 2012 to a synthetic drug called Spice.  The Navy made an informational video about it to warn our sailors of the consequences it can lead to--negative affects on the body and naval career.  You can view the video on youtube. Type in Navy and spice.  Please learn about this drug.  It has become a HUGE problem with all branches of the military.  Let's protect our kids by educating ourselves about the dangers that are out there.

LETTING GO AND LETTING GOD!

My son decided to leave college at the end of his third year. He had my youngest son take him to the Navy recruiter. He told him to tell me he was spending time with friends. He did not want me to talk him out of his decision. The next day he informed me of his decision. I cried. I lost my mom three month prior. I felt that I was going to lose him too!

My child worked part time and attended school part time. I felt that all…

letting go

I don't think it's so much about "letting go" as it is about accepting the inevitable. Children will grow up. They will probably make many of the same mistakes and have similar successes as tyou did did. The only thing you can do for your now adult child is to be loving always, supportive in the positive things, and instructive in the negative things. In theory, if they made it to adulthood, you did an okay job already.  You need to let them be independent and to show you all you have taught…

My Baby just left for RTC,

My son just left for RTC. You would think I would be use to this, my oldest son graduated RTC in May of 2006, and since that time, is now in the Army stationed in Germany. But this is my youngest, and we are very close. I am happy for him. He loves the medical field and will be a Corpsman. His dreams are all coming through. But it is still hard already not having him here to talk to. I am happy and sad all at the same time.
