Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Hello Ladies! just real quick to let you know E arrived home safe and sound (and again, a little sick...GRRRR), hoping it is his allergies this time!!! HE IS BEAUTFULl!! His plane arrived at 11:30pm Friday and we were up until 3:00am talking. I am in Awwwww of this boy I sent away, and returned a man! And I have to tell you Way to go Delta, 3 bags checked and did not charge for a ONE! He had 5 bags in total...two heavy cary-on's!! We almost did not all fit into the car! He brought Noah home a Blue Camo outfit to match his (mini version) :)...I wish you all could have seen the look on Noah's face, tears in his eyes and heard him scream and shout with excitement and Hug his Brother for such a gift...I cried (way better than a T-Shirt :-))! I will take a picture of the two in the uniform, and post it ...it is priceless. Noah so wants to follow in his brothers footsteps...told me the other day he wants to join the Junior Naval Academy this summer (He's 12), and has everything it takes up to this point...great grades, loyalty, commitment, honor, courage!!!
@Nanny2, thank you for the information. For those of you who do not know I work for PaR Nuclear, Inc. in Minnesota...A Engineering and Manufacturing company that designs and builds Nuclear Fuel Handling Equipment for Nuclear Power Plants all over the world. We have offered to help with the disaster in Japan...and they have turned us down. We currently are building the AP1000 Fuel Handling equipment which is STATE OF THE ART..and almost disaster proof. This is the equipment that we want to put in the United States Plants...and start replacing all the existing Fuel Handling Equipment in all the Nuclear Plants...GOOGLE AP1000 to better educate yourself, I wish the Media would get better informed before they start SCARING everyone! I am not saying what is not going on in Japan is not Scary...it is, what gets me riled is...they are not asking or taking help from other experts, (they are now, but should have from day 1). We (PaR Nuclear-Westinghouse) have companies/employee's in Tokyo, Kobe, Tokai, Kumatori Japan just waiting for the word to help, but Japan's government does not ask for our help, and does not take it as offered. We also have Fuel handling equipment in 17 other Countries...In China, we have Fuel Handling Equipment in the Fangjiashan and Fuqing Plants, and updating their plants to make them more SAFE (Don't hear that in the news...do ya)? Nuclear Fuel is the fuel for the future, and we were just beginning to make great strides forward, unfortunately this disaster has set the industry back, and some because of false information...or not enough of the GOOD "positive" Nuclear Fuel can do. YES, it is scary stuff...Modern technology has come so far, if the foreigners will only listen :)! My E will be on a Aircraft Carrier that is run by Nuclear Fuel, My company built most of its Fuel Handling equipment, it is scary no doubt....
OK, sorry I will get off my soap box...I did not want to go off on a tangent and take away from My Sailor being home :)...but this just gets my blood going :) :)!!! .Needless to say, this week has been a very stressful week at work. My job is Project Management Scheduling for all our Fuel Handling Projects, people are running scared...how accurate is the information that Japanese Government is telling?????
Thanks for listening and sharing...So looking forward to spending the next 9 days with my Sailor!!!
Hugs to everyone!
Cindy
I know that a lot of you have sailors in or near Japan. My husband (the Nuke) shared this site with me and said I could share it with all of you.
I found this on molly's site also, thought it might be handy to have.
A more direct link:
http://nei.cachefly.net/newsandevents/information-on-the-japanese-e...
FYI: The best summary on the status of the nuclear plants in Japan (that I am aware of) is on www.nei.org there is a link there to the latest information and it is updated regularly. (…and the history of the updates is maintained there also.)
There are other links there to other information such as the spent fuel storage at the Japanese plant, etc.
NEI is the Nuclear Energy Institute which was formed after Three Mile Island.
nanny2....thanks for letting us know. Our prayers for him and all his family. Is so sad to hear stories like this and always come back to me thinking about my own kids. PLease keep us posted! I also order my blue flag, thanks for sharing the website.
In my way back from Groton this past weekend it was very hard to said bye to J. When I said bye to him I was not crying but in my way back to the hotel I lose it. Then talking to my husband I said that you hear all this stories about military forces but until you are in the boat you really realize how hard it is for all our military families it doesn't matter under what forces. I have a close friend that his son is in the marines and at first they send him to Hawaii for three years well last week the marine came and knock her door to let her know that in two weeks he is leaving for Afghanistan (not sure about the spell) and last night I was talking to her and told me he get here this Sunday to stay with her for a week. His grandparents from another country came to spend all this coming week with him. Please keep her in your prayers. Sooo we all have to remember to pray everyday for all this young mens and womens that are difending our country to keep us safe. Sorry that you all have to hear all this speech but I just want to share how important for me and I know all of you what our kids, friends, husbands, wife are doing. Again, we all are in the boat and feel the pain for each other.
I just got this from Molly's adopt a Sailor site, thought I would pass this one.
Hey Molly Moms... anyone close to Atlanta?? There is a sailor who has been moved to Emory hospital. Here is the message that was posted...

I will let you know if he is able to receive cards...
Phoebe, Congrats to you & S, I would be shouting that from the roof tops. I am soo Happy for you & S. Sounds like one of the random cards moments. What do you think?
Betsy- Prayers, Prayers sent your way! Rose is right, everything happens for a reason, hearing that doesn't make it easier sometimes but it will work out. We have had many speed bumps, (that's what I call them) in our life, at the time couldn't figure out why this was happening but eventually it all worked out. So happy you are getting to go on your road trip, don't know that I could do that by myself, I'm such a "nervous nelly" in big city traffic, just a small town country girl. Hope you have a wonderful trip.
Rose, welcome back! Sounds like you gals had a wonderful trip! Congrats to your Sailors!!
Cindy- how exciting!! Hope you have a wonderful time with E!!! He will love SD, mine wishes he was still there. I hope you tell him Congrats & how proud the navy moms are. I hope you update his address on the calendar too.
I am so glad I ordered the pic frame, D's pic looks awesome in it. It's my belated Christmas gift from hubby. It was worth spending a little extra for the frame. Thoughts & prayers to all. Everyone have a great day!
Hello everyone, Sorry I do not have time to update myself on all the posts...please know I send hugs and happy thoughts to everyone! ]
I did want to share... I just got the call from E, he graduated Strand today and he will be on a plane from P-Cola tonight headed HOME for 9 days :)!! He Arrives in Minneapolis at 11:30 pm tonight (Friday) :)! HOOOOOORA! I took vacation all next week to spend time with him. After the 9 days he reports to San Diego for a 10 "in Dock" then he will be flown for his Tour of Duty in Japan aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in Japan to help with relief efforts for the next 3-6 months...I do pray the air clears by then!
I do hope to get back on here sometime to get updated on everyone :)! I hope I haven't missed anything juicy...bad or upsetting! Betsy...I think and pray for you every day with your house stuff!!
Congratulations to all our Sailors...and God, keep them safe as they make the greatest sacrifice for more than just their country!!!!
Love you all....Hugs!!!
Cindy
