Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Cindy, that is so great that your son got his favorite choice for orders. I wish him the best.
Still haven't sent my son any packages. I'm sure he is wondering what is up with that. Just dont have the chance to get anything together. Work is killing me !!

Thanks girls for your prayers and support for my phone call tonight with my son. Whew. I haven't cried this much since CJ left and I don't think I cried that much then. Anyway it was the hardest conversation I have had to have. Anyway after the conversation he told me he was glad he knew everthing now and he wanted to make a commitment to talk every week. (We have not talk for a year) He said he wanted more of a relationship then we have and when we hung up it was I love you mom. I still am crying...
Haven't heard from CJ hope he is better.
@Cindy awesome about E. If Cj gets stationed there then we need to do a trip together seeing I am on your way there. We would have a blast!!
Thanks again fro your friendship girls..
OOPS....sorry that's backwards!!!! 1)West Coast...2)Over Seas....3)East Coast!
Yes, Lori he is very excited. I think he gets a few weeks (10 days) home, after Graduation (Feb 28th??) before he has to report to San Diego since he did not take Leave when everyone else did around the Holidays.
Penny, ((HUGS)) are prayers have been said...I will keep you in my thoughts!! Here's wishing CJ better too.
Elizabeth and Mochi-regarding CAKES IN A JAR I read somewhere that when you use a cake mix, you can't fill it halfway full because they rise more than homemade recipes. So just fill it less, it will make MORE jars.
LOVE all the boxer comments!! Elizabeth, glad to hear that IB was polite. :-) He KNOWS we "talk."
Cindy-So exciting!! Nice to know he will be in a warm climate. I am here in CA if he needs anything...several hours away, but closer than MN!!
I will check in the chat room later...
Penny prayers, hugs & peaceful thoughts to you. I think you are very brave for think of your baby & now trying to help him understand & get peace. You have a lot of prayers coming your way.
Cindy, my son is in SD now for A school, he said he never wants to leave there. His words every time I ask anything, it is just Awesome here. The people treat the military like royalty, they are so kind & thanking them all the time. Lori I am in the same boat, I get scraps of info. I do know that they are a little more layed backed, the first wknd he was there he was able to go off base. They had to do community service jobs to be able to wear civies, stay out later on the wknd.
Betsy love the pic. D finally made it to the ocean Sun, said of course Awesome, the water was freezing but they spent the day hanging out there.

Hello again! I really don't know much...all I got was the text this morning, and I was in school all day and so was E...However, I do know that San Diego was his first choice, well actually they could only do "West Coast; East Coast, or Over Seas" His choices on his Dream Sheet was 1)East Coast, 2)Overseas, 3)West Coast!! But from the very first day he joined the Navy he wanted to be in San Diego...he is THRILLED. I do not know how long his assignment is in SD...I was under the assumption that is his home base for his 5 years of duty, but will go out to Sea when the ship does for various assignments. Not sure how all this works, and have not actually spoken to him.
Betsy...THANK YOU for sharing that photo, WOW!!! I hope to visit there some day and to see it with my own eyes! I was reading more on that link...and if you look down the right side column you will see "Westinghouse" ...that is the Company I work for, looks like we built some of the things on this Carrier...HOW COOL IS THAT!??? Guess it was meant to be!! If you click on the "Westinghouse" name...it brings you to the website...scroll down and read under United States and the AP1000 Nuclear Power Plants, This is what I am directly involved with in my job...I am a scheduler for the multi million dollar AP1000 Nuclear Power Plants! VERY INTERESTING, thanks for letting me share!!
((Hugs)) Cindy
Penny, my ((hugs)) and prayers go out to you tonight. I hope Cj feels better soon.
Lori, A is not alone, my A is still in ATT classes and Orders are nowhere in sight for him any time soon.
Cindy, Wow! That is so Awesome! I actually saw the Ronald Reagan when it was coming into the port in SD from Hawaii in August. It was so cool to watch it. Everyone at the waterfront just stopped and watched it dock. A and I just stood and watched it for about 20 minutes. It's like a huge city on the water. Way to go, E! I hope A gets SD and so does he. Here it is in SD, next to the USS Nimitz.
Oh my goodness - Orders, Dream Sheets, Graduation Dates - I no nothing of any of this. I even Skyped with my Sailor last night. They seem to be focused on Qualifying which is working towards phasing up or gaining a yellow card which enables him to wear Civies, have expanded liberty priviliges etc. I think his base is behind Pens in their progress.
Congratulations to Evan - Wooo Whoooo. When does he move to San Diego? Right after graduation? Is he excited?
((Hugs Penny)) thinking of you; what a brave decision you made 33 years ago - only a loving mother is able to put her child before herself. I hope your talk goes well. I hope CJ is feeling better.
Let us know when you hear someing Anita! Hey Salma!
