My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Hmmm, somehow sent that and I wasn't done! And I did it twice? Good Lord! So, anyhow..... she said they closed before she got hers, but she was going back. A few days later she sent the pic of her new tattoo. It's a mermaid holding an anchor with USN and it can be covered/hidden in a wedding dress! LOL. I'm actually ok with it, especially since she reminded me how old she is. It's very pretty. The boxer story line is cracking me up. B threw away every bra and pair of underwear from BC except the ones she wore home and even I thought they were horrible. She finally classed up and is getting ready to take the phase two test. She is loving it and I am so happy for her.

Well, IB bought a pillow pet for his bunk, so I think Hootie would be OK. It's not like he would give T a bad time, and since they're roommates (this is just SO convenient isn't it!!) I am sure that T would be OK. :-)

I put the link for the cakes and pies in a jar under the care package ideas. You bake them in canning jars, so no worries about explosions. The hardest part is removing them from the hot oven one at a time and putting the simmering lid on. I got the hot pads wet, and then they were not insulating, and I had to watch out so that I did not burn my hands.

I talked to IB today after I read your message Elizabeth, and he says he still has 3 cakes left and around 3/4 of the frosting can. (Betsy, that's the only thing you can't frost the cakes. One of my friends suggested mailing a can of frosting and that seems to work wonderfully.) Anyway, I thought he had eaten all of them super fast, but it seems he is making them last. I asked him to save the empty jars and ship them back to me as they are rather expensive.

I will check back in later to see if anyone is here. Have a great day tomorrow everyone.

Hello, ladies! I have been very busy with work and school. I read and smile but haven't had the time to say hi. My B got a tattoo a couple of weeks. She got a gift certificate for any tattoo she wanted for her high school graduation but never got the tattoo, because her mother regrets her own and made her promise she wouldn't....way too long of a story. So, anyhow she called and told me she was getting one. A group was going together. I asked her what, where, please don't. She called the next day

I think Hootie is too cool - the only thing I can think is the guys might give him a hard time about his owl...

Man we are crazy around - with all the underware stuff people would think we might have a thing for boxers...

Yeah on starting Phase 2 - it will be a little less stressful for D now. Or at least we can hope so.

Susan, that's awesome about his mid-term!  Woohoo!

Elizabeth, Oh wow!  Hootie is absolutely adorable!  Did you make him too?  The only issue I could see with him, would be if he would have a place to put him.  He looks a little big.

Penny - D started phase 2 today. Hopefully that means it will get better!

D called me this afternoon and told me that he passed his mid-term. He did great and is still near the top of the class. Very proud of him! When he called I was less than 10 minutes away from leaving work so after we talked for a bit I asked him if I could call him after I got off. He told me no because he needed to go study...all I wanted to say was - Who are you and what have you done with my son! But I managed to keep that inside and told him that I loved him :),

Betsy - hhhmmm....these boy's are gonna have all kinds of cool boxers....do you think I could make boxers out of an empty cracker jacks bag..????
Comment by ElizabethC on January 24, 2011 at 8:47pm
And check out Hootie the Navy Owl....I know you can hardly see him cause he's wearing his Camo's.....I was thinking of sending him to T when I send the boxer's out....give me some feed back...to girly...to cheesy...I kinda think I love him....T had a clown doll when he was little and Clownie went with him everywhere...kinda thought Hootie the Navy Owl could now go everywhere with him...

Elizabeth, I love those.  I couldn't find any Popeye today.  I got the camo at K-Mart in a 3 pack, 2 were blue camo and one had motorcycles on them.
