Since we are now able to send packages, wouldn't it be great if we shared our creative ideas of what we intend to send to our sailors?

My daughter is newly stationed at Goose Creek. I'm glad I found this site. My navigating skills around this area are rough. Any suggestions about how to communicate more efficiently?

Today's find on the boxer shorts were Elmo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Is it weird that I'm having so much fun finding underwear? But, my all time favorites are these. No one will be able to see my sailor now, even in his undies. LOL
Penny, I just sent A some plastic plates, forks, cups, etc. from the Dollar Tree in one of his care packages. I have made the cakes and breads in a jar and they are awesome.
I will now have to look for my applesauce cake and pumpkin bread recipes now. When I find them, I will post them in the recipe section.
Susan, I bet you are so excited about your trip. I'm so jealous. A's isn't doing the 9:30p.m. muster any longer either, (but I'm sure that is probably because he is in class until 11p.m. LOL *wink) but hopefully D will be stopping that one soon.
@ Susan is D on phase 2 yet? Cj said when they go on phase two when they have Liberty for the weekend they only have to muster for the Sunday evening one at 21:00 so he can sleep in and sleep all day if he wants.
Moms always worry about undies and socks.. go figure. Now I need to check out the boxers. Can you image a whole fleet wearing popeye boxers No one would be able to tell them apart. clear down to their skivies.
I want to try the cake in a jar thingy to a little nervous about it though. CJ wanted me to send paper plates. I told him to buy them himself... I told he he is the weirdo..
Thanks for the laughs today!
Hi! I talked to D on Saturday for a little while. He sounded absolutely exhausted. He is still really stressed about school. He is doing very well, near the top of the class, but he is putting a lot of pressure on himself. I guess if he hadn't been such a slacker in HS this wouldn't be so hard for him! He said that even if he wanted to he can't go to bed early. Every week night muster is at 9:30 and can last until after 11pm at times and on the weekends it's 11:30 muster. I actually called him on Friday at 10:30pm his time and he was napping before muster :( He said after muster he is lucky to get settled down to sleep before midnight and then up again at 5am. He hasn't been complaining to me, I have pulled all of this info out of him (like pulling teeth). I just hope he doesn't burn out. 10 months is a long time to do this day after day. But the good news is he loves his classes and is learning a lot. I think he needs to learn to catch cat naps and maybe that will help. I am heading to visit him next week and I am super excited! But I told him on Saturday that I don't want to mess up his study schedule so we will see how much I actually get to see him.
All of you sound great and I have enjoyed reading all of the tattoo and boxer stories :) As far as I know D does not have a tattoo, he really hasn't had a opportunity to get one. And I am not getting one! You Mom's are braver than me :) Susan
OMG what a HOOT! You guys, I am laughing at work (Better then crying)!! Don't all of you buy up the Boxers from K-mart before I get to them :)! Stacy, thanks for sharing your story, Since E was sick and he got upset with me asking so many questions, I have hardly heard a peep from him. So, I decided to give him his space for a few days...NOT liking it though! Kids!?????
Have a great afternoon ladies... I will check in later!
Cindy
OMG, that is so funny that you said that, Elizabeth. I bought a bag of Cracker Jacks on Saturday for A's next care package. LOL
Ok I am going to try and post the Popeye boxer's tonight if I can figure out how to do it I'm not very techy....
Stacey - I checked out the boxer's on Kmart.com they are super cute I even ordered some for T, I figure he can never have to many Popeye Boxer's...haha...I think the next idea should be the Cracker Jack kid....wasn't he a sailor? And I think they refer to their dress blues (that are really black as T would say) as Cracker Jacks.
Nancy - just wanted to let you know I knew that IB got your package of goodies because T said "Mom IB's mom sent him cake in a jar it was really cool do you think you could do that" now I have to try and figure out how to bake cake in a jar without them exploding in the oven....not to mention that T also said he saw the cake in the jar he went out and when he came back there were jars soaking in the bathroom, don't know how many you sent but seemed they were gone in a flash...either he hadn't eaten in days or they were awesome :o) I put my money on the later.
