Liz, you are welcome and I really hope that you will get to go! I was on a plane 1 month ago today leaving for my great adventure! What ship is he on?

I posted some personal pictures from tiger cruise on my page. I added captions but they didn't show up when I looked at it, so hope you can get them.

Hi all,
kvoa updated my blog today, so now all 8 days are on it. I will tell my son what you said Mary, tell your son the same.

yes, I am in Tucson. I have lived here 32 years, next month - I love it here. I do get tired of the heat in October, but I would sure get tired of the winter faster living anywhere else. lol.
Thank you for the compliment. It was fun to write that every day. did you get to see the pictures? My son is the tallest one in the manning the rails photo with the blond little girl behind them. What a proud moment that was. And when they passed the Arizona and paid honors, WOW! I was at the fabric store yesterday and the woman cutting my fabric is also a Navy mom. I told her about this website and I started to cry telling her about that experience. I'm telling you ladies, go if you can. One of these days, I am going to write a complete journal of my adventures. I left out some funny stories, cause I didn't know how long to make the blogs. Some are more personal-there is so much in my heart and mind about it. After the overwhelming 1st day, I got my head on straight and made every effort to thank each sailor that I came in contact with for serving their country. Donna has great pictures on her page-take a look if you haven't yet.

I will recommend again that you go to www.kvoa.com. This is one of my local news stations that I wrote a blog for. look in "other features, then guest blog parents of a sailor". The last time I checked, day 3 and day 8 weren't posted on it. The original day 3 got lost in cyberspace, so I re-wrote at home, And I wrote day 8 at home. However, I recently found that on a lincoln website, which was surprising.

I sure agree with that statement! I held off taking a cruise for 3 years because I wanted my 1st cruise to be the ultimate cruise-that's what I would tell people.
My son is 6'1" and I believe he has a top rack also, for that same reason.
My husband is short, so he took a bottoma rack too. Only, I didn't realize how low to the ground they were. That was a bit of a surprise lol. but I managed it.

It truly was an experience of a liftime. I was in a female berthing at the back of the ship, and the motion was gentle there too. I had a bottom rack, which did you have? Is your son attached to the ship or a squadron?

A tiger in my berthing got it pretty bad the last night on the ship. I didn't have any problems. My husband had a mild case, I just had the vertigo thing and fatigue. It was a very busy and active 5 days!
And I just re-read my comment from last night-there weren't 2 sailors in my rack-haha, that would've been too cozy-there were 2 sailors in my cube.

Hi Donna,
we slept with the female sailors in their berthings. There were 2 sailors in my rack, one on night shift, so she slept during the day.
I was kind of scared about being on the ship, as I had never taken a cruise before. But I have to tell you, it was a wonderful experience. I asked many people to pray for me and I can tell that they did. Because I wasn't afraid nor sick at all. Yes, I could feel the motion of the boat, but it was a gentle thing. We had calm seas for which I am thankful. I thought not seeing land would be an issue for me, but it wasn't. I loved being on the flight deck.
Ben said the only time you felt the boat was if they were going really fast or there was a bad storm. I think you can feel it more than that, but again, it was a gentle rocking.
Interesting enough, I had vertigo for 4 days after getting off the ship! Both of us did and I think my husband had a mild case of the boat flu. I just felt like I was rocking like I did on the ship. That was odd!

the racks are definitely small. but the top rack goes to the ceiling. So that's a thought if you can get up and down the little steps okay. I couldn't sleep with the privacy curtain closed. tried it and didn't like it. I only felt claustrophic when I was awake in the morning.
