JoJo...Welcome to AZ Moms forum! This is a great group!

Yes, it is a good idea to also join your son's PIR group, because in that group you'll be able to share up to date info on what's going on in BC, and get the much needed tons of support during those hard weeks. I think BC was the hardest part for me, because everything was soooo new and unknown....and it was hard not being able to send care packages and talk on the phone!

Also, check out the groups for whatever rate you sailor signed a contract for...for example...FC or ET or GM..etc. Those particular forums are always hopping and you will really learn a lot there about your sailor's particular job and share tons of stories of Moms/Wives who have been through this and have sailors that have already been deployed around the world.

Also, if you find out he will be staying at GL for his "A" school, then be sure to join the Great Lakes A School Q&A forum. I can give you the link if and when you want it. There you'll be kept up to date on all the info on school schedules, etc.

Oh...I live in Chandler...almost bordering Gilbert, so we're practically neighbors! Our sailor had PIR on 1/14/11. He's currently in A school at GL. If I can help in anyway, just holler! Nice to meet you!

Marcy...didn't know if you were aware that the Thursday meeting at Carls Jr. is a short get together spot before going over to the Blue Star Moms meeting held at Bass Pro. Just didn't want you to be thinking it was a Az Moms meeting. Hope this helps.

Ang...A while back I mentioned to my son that I  want to travel  to Pear Harbor in Dec and see the Memorial...I was shocked as hell when he replied "WellJapan is only 600 miles  from there...come see me". He had aid that he could see the Navy being a career.Of course, that was before he left for Japan....I've  idea how he feels about hat now/

Oh well...another hot day in AZ. This is actually the 15th anniversary of moving outta Tucson ): I REALLY wanna move back. My inlaws are there but there is more construction work here for hubby.
