This Thursday night in GL the low will be in the mid 30s, & the high on Friday 50. If the wind gets going, double-brr. Think 'warm feet' & definitely a hat!

Hi Diana! My son had his PIR on 10/15 and my husband and I also spent 6 days there in Chicago. When I arrived it was warm but it cooled off during the week. A light coat with a sweater is good for the nighttime. It was really warm at graduation inside. Moms kept posting that it would be so cold inside where the graduation takes place but it was quite the opposite. The ceremony is so awesome. I couldn't wait for them to call Liberty! I was fortunate to have the whole weekend with my Sailor and he got to spend overnight with us. It is quite beautiful there. We saw all the leaves changing colors and the homes for the most part are beautiful. Have a wonderful time and enjoy!!!

It's truly a trip of a lifetime! PIR is incredible, & Chicago, I'm jealous! I'm so glad you have the luxury of five days to spend. My PIR trip was Oct '07, & an unseasonably warm weekend. By the way, wear comfortable shoes for Chicago, you'll do a lot of walking. You also might want to take a small pair of binoculars to PIR to see your son better.

I am really excited to go, first can't wait to see my son, I miss him so much, and 2nd it will be just my husband and I going, we havent gone any where in years by ourselves, well we have never really gone more than an over night trip to Vegas. I am just so proud of my son.

I just looked at www.wunderground.com's forecast, & it looks chilly but not bad. Layers - pants, tops, sweaters, a warm jacket like you'd wear on our coolest nights. A hat and gloves, especially for nighttime when it really drops, maybe a scarf too.

I am going to PIR 11/5. I am from AZ, and not sure what to bring or wear. I really dont want to purchase a coat as I dont know when I will use it again. We will be there 5 days, and I hope to see some of Chicago also.

Welcome Reecesmom, & you're welcome :) There's so much to get a handle on at the outset, but keeping your sailor supported by your love and pride along the way is key. PIR is amazing; and if you can manage Corps School graduation, that's really something, too. Love that you and Linda are here - we're all here for each other!

Hi Reecesmom! My son had his PIR 10/15 and is attending A school for medical corpsman. I think school offically starts on Monday! It's great to have a support group right here in AZ. Welcome!

Hi. I just found this Arizona Moms site. I am so happy to know that there are moms close by who understand my pride, worries, and loving heart for my Sailor. My son will also be attending Corpsman school after his 11/5 PIR. My family is so excited about attending PIR!

Marcy...the Corpsman moms and dads sight helped ease my worries about my sons upcoming studies in Corpsman school....I think you were one of the moms who responded to my concerns. If so, thanks again:)
