Hey LindaB, welcome! Mine graduated BC 10/2/07 and graduated Corps School 2/22/08. He'll be needing everything except a snow shovel - the Navy conveniently provided those! I used to live in NY too (LI). That February graduation is one of the coldest weekends I've ever experienced.

Hello AZ Moms! I have just joined this group! I'm so happy AZ has their own group. My son graduated 10/15 and is in A school in Great Lakes for Medical Corpsman. We live in N. Phoenix. I keep asking him if it is getting colder there yet. We are originally from NY but have lived in AZ for 14 years. I told him I'd send a blanket if he needs one!

Angelica, welcome & congratulations on your son's decision! Exciting times lie ahead for your family. You're probably going to be having turkey a few days ahead of us ;)
One thing that helped me from the start, was envisioning how busy my son was. I would order from Amazon the book that describes boot camp day by day, really helps. "Honor Courage Commitment" by Leahy. And start planning your trip to PIR! Because after the first few weeks the time seems to fly.

Roos, sorry we missed you! Kathy sent out a 'group message' too, so you should have gotten an email? Another mom in the Phx group has volunteered to set up the next get-together, hope to meet you then. Where is your sailor now?

Ladies...

Sorry I didn't make it to the brunch yesterday. I have a neuromuscular condition that sometimes dictates my level of activity and yesterday it was screaming at me to lay low!! ): Hopefully soon I will make it to a gathering.
28 days and my ManCub leaves for GL.

Thank you Kathy for organizing a great brunch! The restaurant choice was perfect. We had a bonus guest, Commander Darryl Toppin, Commanding Officer, Navy Recruiting Office Phoenix. He answered questions and added so much to our get-together. I'm so impressed that he took time on a Saturday to join us, so thanks Cmdr Toppin!
