Welcome DM! Now that he's graduating, you can also search the N4M web site to find groups for his rate, the area or ship where he'll be stationed, etc. Fun!

Yeah! Thank you so much Marcy. It's done! You were great! Oh! And Kathy, I'm still pretty new to this, but I think PIR is boot camp graduation, right? I have a ways to go before that, still not sure of John's boot camp date right now. Anyway, we are very excited and proud and I'm sure I will cry like I did at his high school graduation.

Just in case, there are also signs in front of each section of the bleachers indicating where each division will be before you, so just find your spot.
Each division is announced as they enter and then march past the bleachers, and your section will go NUTS as your sailors pass by and take their places in front of you! I couldn't even recognize my own, he'd lost 10 lbs from an already lean frame and was wearing BCG's, but when I spotted him I almost collapsed, it was so cool. Hi! We are from the Tucson area. With 4 kids, church, school, work - we are very busy, but would love to connect. Can anyone tell me how to fix my son's picture?

Karen, thanks for the information! I never got a call back from the recruiter or the Petty Officer I left a message with over 2 days ago! Luckily, my son isn't the one seeking the information! He thinks everything is "fine" while I fret over what happens next!?!?
I've already been trying to plot out what date I think his PIR will be. Not an easy task I know, but I want to make reservations ASAP. Thanksgiving is in the time frame he could finish and the fares sky rocket enough then. Looks to me that they usually have PIR on Fridays unless there is a holiday near the date. I'm unclear on whether it's 9 weeks or just 8 but he leaves 9/14 and I'm guestimating his PIR to be 11/19. Do you think that sounds about right? I'm originally from the Chicago area so we have relatives nearby. I'm sure we'll stay closer the night before since we have to be there so early.
I ordered the book Honor, Courage & Committment from Amazon and had it overnighted so I got it today. I'll probably stay up all night reading!
I suppose I'll go to the recruiting station in Chandler, Monday, with my son, hopefully someone will be there!

Take your camera!! I taped the ceremony. The person swearing him in will also pose with your son afterwards in front of the state flag, a nice moment. I think seeing them off like that really eases the leaving a bit, though it sure isn't easy. We'll be here for you though!
