Congratulations Ryan and Diana! There's a good book on Amazon that follows a division through boot camp, and gives you a good idea of what they do day by day. I really enjoyed reading it. It helped me understand what my son would be going through and erased a lot of anxiety. http://www.amazon.com/Honor-Courage-Commitment-Navy-Boot/dp/1557505...

This year's Navy Birthday Ball in Phoenix is scheduled for October 9, 2010 at the Embassy Suites Biltmore! Public invited. This year's theme is "Our Navy in the 60's and 70's - Return to R&R in Waikiki!" weimymom: Hang in there. You should have seen my husband when our oldest son left. Since our son wasn't able to call when he got to Great Lakes, my husband was sure he hadn't gotten there until the clothes arrived!!! Don't worry about the letters. They are given mandatory time to do letters once a week. You should start getting them soon. We always looked forward to that once a week letter.

Hi everyone...I'm new to this site....I'm from Goodyear, AZ. Son just left on 7/27. Still waiting to hear from him. Got the box on Tuesday, but still no letter. Never realized just how hard this was gonna be.

I don't have to worry about the sun. The wedding is in the chapel on base at North Island. The reception is at another location, also indoors. I am looking forward to this & hope it all goes well for my son & his bride.

RoosMama: Congrats for your son! That is really a major accomplishment considering how many do not make it through that training. Your family & he have a right to be proud! Enjoy SD - we are going next weekend for son #1's wedding.

RoosMama, Congratulations on your son's graduation! I envy you your San Diego fix! I took Connor there last month for a few days to soak up the Navy feeling and the beautiful weather. It was a great trip.

my AZ born boy went to boot camp in Feb. his 1st letter home said "it's cold here, BOY is it cold here!" I really had to laugh at that.
