Connorsmom: So your son gets to leave our heat for Boot Camp humidity. What fun!! When mine goes to Boot Camp (son #2) he will get to be in the snow again (he was in college in Wisconsin_

Just enjoying the 110 degrees today! I'm in Gilbert and my son leaves for Boot Camp on July 13. Hello out there . . .

Hi Julie! One good thing is that my pool is finally warm enough for swimming - I love these summer nights. So far I've just been using my evaporative cooler (which I love), and won't go to a/c till the humidity dictates.
Are you a member of Norfolk Sailors - Family & Friends on N4M? That would be a great place to post the info about the EconoLodge, as they're always discussing places to stay. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/norfolksailorsfamilyfriends

I got out of FB because of the pornography issue. and I don't miss it. Then I got back in just to see the Lincoln page. But think it's not worth it.

I also heard last fall that FB is the greatest identity theft social network, another reason to leave it alone.

I had put up a Heads at Ease group and was bombarded. When I deactiviated that account, I thought that was done too. Then a friend saw it was still there and some guy in Australia was handling it. YIKES!
You really have to be careful of what you do on there.

Thanks for all that information Marcy. If I want to see the Lincoln stuff when they deploy this year then I need to go thru that.

Oh no Joan, I didn't mean the problem stemmed from you not having all your Privacy settings in place! Just adding another caution to your warning.
Comment by Joan/E's Mom on May 20, 2010 at 2:11am
Your right about the privacy button..but, mines I taught was also in Friends only...then, maybe one of may young family members doesn't have Friends only, and my little nieces are on the website see their young adult stuff..You accept a new family member or friends and they come in with other wrong friends attached. I just deactivated mine.

Thanks for the warning Joan, so scary! I'm wary of FB, & don't do the quizzes or other silly stuff on FB, they can be used to figure out bank passwords and answers to security questions among other things. I'm going to update my privacy settings now as Facebook keeps changing its privacy policies.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/technology/personaltech/13basics....
As this 5/12/10 NY Times article points out, "in recent months, Facebook has revised its privacy policy to require users to opt out if they wish to keep information private, making most of that information public by default....
"The new opt-out settings certainly are complex. Facebook users who hope to make their personal information private should be prepared to spend a lot of time pressing a lot of buttons. To opt out of full disclosure of most information, it is necessary to click through more than 50 privacy buttons, which then require choosing among a total of more than 170 options.
"Users must decide if they want only friends, friends of friends, everyone on Facebook, or a customized list of people to see things like their birthdays or their most recent photos. To keep information as private as possible, users must select 'only friends' or 'only me' from the pull-down options for all the choices in the privacy settings, and must uncheck boxes that say information will be shared across the Web."

Dawn, it's so wonderful that he's close enough for you to visit. I'm sure he's going to love having you there. Sounds like he could use some mom TLC!
