Jane: my younger son is seriously considering the Navy. He has been recruited for the nuclear program, which might, if he gets the grades (he's already aced ASVAB & the nuke test) go to the Naval Academy for 2 years & graduate. Is this what Devin has gone through?

That's fantastic! Congrats on his accomplishment. You must be so proud! (What is prototype, by the way?)

Julie (Cory's Mom) pointed out on the Phoenix group that May 15 is Recruiter Appreciation Day. She's posted it in the Events column on the right and here's the link: http://www.navyformoms.com/events/recruiter-appreciation-card?id=19...

Dawn, I'm so glad! They really are a wonderful resource, I still go there with my questions or just to say Hi, it's always fun to give them an update on my corpsman.

Hi Lynn - enjoyed getting to know you this week, too! The luncheon was terrific. Rear Admiral Graf gave a great talk about current maritime strategy, augmented by the officers that accompanied her. Last night's dinner was also fascinating. RDML Bruner (see Lynn? I learned a new abbreviation for a title!) is so personable; he gave a great talk and responded to many questions. Capt Kopas, USS Makin Island's handsome CO and like my date a Brophy Prep grad, was also there and answered my questions about LHD's (my corpsman son is joining one soon). I also got to visit with the captain heading the new NROTC program at ASU & wife. And finally, I was delighted to visit again with Cmdr. Darryl Toppin (Executive officer, NRD Phoenix) who swore my son into the Navy in 2007. I love that Navy Week provided such great opportunities for us to participate. Thanks Lynn!

I am sorry that Ed and I were not able to attend the get-together this past weekend. I am glad you had a ice time. Please keep us informed about any future get-togethers.

Kim- I agree with Marcy. it was a wonderful time together. I am looking forward to the next one. You were so kind to open up your home for us.

Thank you Kim for being such a fabulous hostess! We had a great potluck luncheon at her beautiful home yesterday. We dined on delicious dishes outside on her patio overlooking her pool and waterfall and peaceful view of a saguaro-studded mountain beyond. It was such a beautiful 80 degree day we moved our chairs into the sunshine for coffee and dessert and talk, talk, talk. Now we have to plan our next get-together - can't wait!
