new moms, PIR stands for "pass-in-review". You will be getting a form letter from
your child which will explain a bunch of stuff. I just looked at mine-yes I still have it.
have you joined the boot camp moms group? wish this whole site had been there when my son went thru BC.

Hi Lori - Thanks for the information about PIR. Officers go through a Commissioning Cermony. In my case, Commissioning was the same time as graduation - both of my kids are Annapolis (United States Naval Academy) grads. I am from Chicago, I do understand the cold weather. :-)
How is your daughter doing on the Nimitz? What is her job? My daughter was on the USS Truman about 1.5 years ago.

Okay - this is going to sound a bit stupid, but what is PIR? My son and daughter are officers, so they never when through PIR. I have been reading the posting and everyone mentions PIR.

Great Lake is North of Chicago on the way to Wisconsin. If you go to PIR you would fly into O'Hare. You'll be getting info in the mail about that. We had friends in Kenosha and when Bryan was in A School he would take the train and spend his off duty weekends with them.

The other problem is whether the recruit will be on hold in GL before being shipped to "A" school. Lots of things to consider.

Grad n go can be tricky. Matt was truly a grad n go. Others who are considered grad n go are simply moving across the street to attend "A" school. This Dad should know his recruits rate and where his "A" school is located. The ot

His recruit will know if he's grad n go. Matt knew he was flying out to San Diego 2 hours after PIR. Tell him to chill. (jk)
