Hi Denise, Post 9/11 things changed and there is a list and if you're not on it you don't get in. Sailors are limited to the number of people they invite. The line to check in is like a cattle call.

Maureen, I am so sorry. I have been praying for you and will continue to do so.

Maureen, I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's not fun at all when we give of ourselves to our children to have them do this just stinks. My Navy sailor never did this but my daughter did. It's not you....it's not what you did or didn't do, it's just the way it is. I know that sounds simplistic but it really is the only explanation I ever came up wiith. They eventually figure it out, really they do. It just hurts and that's the part that stinks for us as Moms. I send you big hugs and a shoulder to lean on.

We took the shuttle from O'Hare and stayed at the Ramada Inn in Waukeegan. They had a special shuttle to PIR that the sailors could come back to the hotel on. Rented a car and then spent the day at Gurnee Mills Mall. The mall is almost like hallowed ground for the graduates but beware there are RTC personnel looking for anyone breaking the rules.

Gin's Mom: Go to the groups and find the group that has PIR on the 14th. They are the one's with the gate passes and the ones who may be planning a meet and greet the night before PIR. If I were you I would contact RTC. They have a phone number and you can confirm your daughter's graduation and get the password for the pass. Did you ever join the "Bootcamp Moms" group? Tons of info in there also.

momofHalo did you get a phone call when she arrived at Great Lakes? It's usually a 10 second "hi I'm here". Took a few weeks for my son to write to us. Hang in there.

Are there any AZ Moms who are Moms of officers (besides myself?)

I am really glad to hear that the AZ Mom's all have had a great day! Letters, visits, etc! Fanstastic. All I can say is that I am really proud to be a Navy Mom.
