Denise, a "BIG" AZ welcome to you. Not crazy. I actually joined the Wisconsin group, as I was going to Milw last month. But no one said "hello" so I caneled being a member.
I live in Tucson, so let me know when you are coming! do you like candy raisins? I had quite a hunt for them while there, but did get some.
Karen, that picnic sounds like fun! And cf, we didn't do a gift ether. Some sailors were leaving right away for their schools or had duty.
It is such a wonderful experience!

Jen, just watched the youtube post-that just warms a mom's heart. how exciting to get to glimpse your son. thanks for posting for all of us to share.

Oh MsAZKAT, I cried and laughed when I read your post. My father-in-law told me so many years ago "your children can break your heart".
I cried because I remember the hurt from when my son lied to us so much thru high school and even college.
I laughed because of what you said about the sun, white sand and cold and rainy in Chicago. Boy, that sounded like me.
I'll pray for you and him. I'm glad that he wasn't mad, but Ben sure would've been had I done that. He had some pretty specific rules on what we could do-haha, like I paid attention.
Have a happy wedding day-that's what matters, is you and Ron. the rest are important, but just a side bar. I just told my niece about her sons-I've read that boys don't mature until 26-yikes! that's a scary thought.

And yes, it does hurt when they would rather be with their friends than their mom. But I guess that is part of the process of growing up. I was in my 30's and a mom before I realized that what a good job my own mom did.

I agree with Staci MsAZKAT. The only comment I will make is this, if I had contacted the son's CO, he would have been furious with me and I wouldn't hear from him for a long time.
the Navy will send their sailors where they need them. We and they don't have any control over that.

And of course, my crew and I are mailing pillowcases. Looking forward to it.

thanks for posting his note Staci. I will send that on to my crew also.

Julie (Cory's mom) has a list of all the recruiters addresses in Arizona! We can start the Armed Services Day Card Party!

Yep, Nancy is right. I just finished my son's tax return and his W-4 has zero AZ state tax withholding.
