Got my cruise book from the Lincoln's deployment last year today. It is such a cool book. We are taking turns looking at it.

Joan, it's my understanding your son's division will get to "hear" about SPAWAR. That may be the extent of the perks... :(
It's the Navy's way of exposing our soon to be Sailors to all the different components of the Navy....

the jelly bean factory is in Pleasant Prairie,WI. which is south of Kenosha, maybe alittle to the west. Haven't been there yet! It's the jelly bellies. It would'n t be that far to go.

Joan, when they open the doors and you see the division march, you will be glad that you made it, cold or not.
That is one of the most precious memories that I have.

yep, you can never tell with the lake effect. Milwaukee is notorius for having spring snow storms. as late as May. And plan for wind. that lake wind is cold.
take a variety of clothing and you should be covered.

Congrats Cathy! This is such an exciting time. Joan, don't count on it! My son graduated on 4-7-06. That day we had rain, sleet, and snow. It was so cold! the next day it was sunny, but very chilly-at least to this Arizonan. and I grew up in Milwaukee. So take warm clothes.

Thanks Staci and it was fun planning both of the blitz's. I realized one day after talking to my DIL that she was basically "deployed" too-meaning that her life was different too with Ben being gone. And that's when I got the idea. They both really liked it.
I worked at Curves at the time and I was touched by how many of the ladies sent cards to my DIL. She got more than Ben, but I wasn't working anymore by his birthday.
Comment by Sue-Pillowcase lady on February 12, 2009 at 11:45pm
Oh, and I told people to start mailing at the beginning of the month. His birthday is mid month, but that way it was spread out. He emailed me one day and said "are you doing one of those blitz things for my birthday?" cause the cards had started to arrive. DIL's birthday was first.
