Hi, Karrie- since you say your son is at Goose Creek, I take it he is a NUKE. I live in North Phoenix, and my son is is a NUKE ET who finished prototype in Ballston Spa, NY in October. He is now stationed to a boat out of Groton, CT, so I've just finished what you are just beginning! Let me know if you have any questions I might be able to help with. You might want to check out the NUKE Moms site also. It is very active. Welcome-

Welcome bravegirl09! You're our first member from Snowflake, and your town has been added to our list above.

MusicalMom, there are three Arizona groups that I"m aware of - this one, Phoenix and surrounding cities in Arizona and Tucson Moms.  Of the three, this one (Arizona Moms) is the most active.  When we have a get-together I post it in all three, and we've had some Tucson Navy moms come up to the Phoenix area for meet-ups  :)

MusicalMom, My son had PIR last year in Feb. and we arrived the night after a huge snow storm, yes quite an adventure indeed. My granddaughters had the best time in the snow though, lol.

Thank you for your support. PIR was great, as you said it would be. There was a problem with a train signal, so most of us waited about 1 to 1 1/2 hours on the main road to get into the gate. They worked it out and were able to start on time. Also, 36 hours prior, the building that holds the ceremony had a pipe burst, due to the extreme cold. They said there had been an inch of water throughout the entire building! They worked feverishly to get it up to code by PIR time, and succeeded. Quite the adventure driving in snow, walking/slipping/driving on ice, rain, and the cold. Roads were clear Sat. morning and weather warmed to 33 degrees. The ceremony, alone, will stay in my mind for a lot longer than the adventures of the weekend. That was inspiring. I am grateful there are seasoned moms that help keep me informed at N4Ms. My stress level would have been high at PIR, had I not had knowledge of what to do, where to go, etc.

I noticed the AZ moms have 2 groups. I was just curious if, do the 2 groups ever get together?

MusicalMom.... Welcome Aboard!! My sailor had a Jan . PIR. BRR...there was NO snow which, believe it or not, makes it seem, colder. I am originally from NH. You will LOVE the PIR. Bring lots of tissues..

Well, it appears I will be joining you ladies, as my son called last night from BC and announced he is a sailor! Soon I will be wearing winter wear I haven't had on in years to experience PIR. He is headed to Nuke school. I have on my calendar to attend the get-together at the end of the month. I am looking forward to meeting with other Navy moms. Thank you for arranging the get-togethers. The N4M website has helped me remain informed and at ease.
