Our friend RADM Scott Sanders (Ret.), whom many of you met at two AZ Navy Moms events, has been invited by Governor Brewer to be the featured speaker on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day in Phoenix for the dedication of Arizona's new WWII Memorial "Salute the Fallen."

Guns from USS Arizona and USS Missouri will also be dedicated as part of the new Memorial, and Sea Cadets from Arizona and Missouri will be in attendance.

What:  Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and World War II Memorial "Salute the Fallen" Dedication Ceremony

Where:  Wesley Bolin Plaza, downtown Phoenix

When:  Saturday, December 7, 2013, 9:15 a.m.

If you'd like a chance to win a flight on the restored WWII B-17 flying fortress "Sentimental Journey," make a donation to support the Memorial at http://gunstosalutethefallen.com.  Winners will be announced at the event.

RADM Sanders a wonderful speaker, and this will be a great family event!

IAJ Mom, I'm glad you were able to go to his graduation.  These are important milestones and if one is able to attend, it's so worth it!

BADma, that's great!  A lot of work went into getting your Blue Star Mothers chapter started.  When and where are your meetings?  I'll post it under the photos up top.

HI,  I just attended my sons graduation from Navy school in Groton.  He had told us that we didn't have to come but my husband and I were able to make it.  So glad that we did.  It was a small event but very nicely done.  It was great to see each individual sailor come up to the stage and state their name and rank and their assigned boat.  Very proud moment for us.  We also had dinner with my sons friend and his parents.  The father was a veteran submariner.  It was good therapy for me to talk to someone that had been in the same place that my son will be in a few weeks.  Now on to a couple of liberty weeks and family time :-)

Hi Kendra and welcome to the AZ Navy Moms family!  it's natural to worry but all will be well :)  My son also had two wisdom teeth removed during BC with no complications.  They took out the last two while he was serving at a Navy hospital the following year; I was visiting and his procedure went so well, he rejected painkillers and was having soup at California Pizza Kitchen that night - I was amazed :)

Keep us posted on his progress, and I look forward to meeting you at one of our get-togethers!
