Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Monthly Navy Moms & loved ones get together usually the FIRST SUNDAY of the month, 6:30 pm, at the AJ's at 1836 S Val Vista Dr in Mesa for coffee and chat - always fun!

Blue Star Mothers of Maricopa meet the second Monday each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Maricopa Chamber of Commerce conference room, 44870 W. Hathaway Ave. #5, Maricopa AZ 85139.

Comment by NancyS on July 15, 2012 at 8:38pm: I'm back! My son's now a Sailor! Woohoo! PIR was great. We got there early and decided to sit in the balcony. I'm glad we did. His division was standing diagonally from us so we scanned the faces & found him right away! Afterward it was fantastic to be able to give him a big hug! He's the same guy, but has so much confidence and purpose. We spent a great day with him and then since he didn't fly out to A school (Pensacola) until 7pm Sat., we picked him up at Midway and spent Saturday with him as well. I am so proud of him! I'll bring pictures on Sunday. Thank you all for your encouragement and kind thoughts.
