I'm back!  My son's now a Sailor!  Woohoo!  PIR was great.  We got there early and decided to sit in the balcony.  I'm glad we did.  His division was standing diagonally from us so we scanned the faces & found him right away!  Afterward it was fantastic to be able to give him a big hug!  He's the same guy, but has so much confidence and purpose.  We spent a great day with him and then since he didn't fly out to A school (Pensacola) until 7pm Sat., we picked him up at Midway and spent Saturday with him as well.  I am so proud of him!  I'll bring pictures on Sunday.  Thank you all for your encouragement and kind thoughts.

Congrats to Nancy - I bet it was wonderful to see your son!  My son's PIR is 8/31. I'm in Phx and Great Lakes seems so far away.  I put the weather app on my phone so I could see what he was experiencing. Missing the guy!
