DM has a Navy office here in Tucson.
I believe my hubby said Luke AFB does have Navy personel on the base...although not a Navy base. My hubby retired from Luke AFB in 2001. We see them walking around all the time so guessing they have orders to be stationed there.
Well, I wish her luck. Great place to be, and so close for visits. Gotta go for now - have a good night.
We are originally from Lima. Ashley's A school is right across from BC so she wont be going anywhere..lol. She would like to be stationed in San Diego to begin with.
Where in Ohio did you live? I lived for 5 years (5 very long years!!!) in Zanesville. I moved there from Southern California, and it was like going back in time 100 years! I was not unhappy at all to leave there and move here. My daughter, who lives in San Tan Valley and is 32, was born in California, but my son Eric was born in Zanesville, and was 3 when his dad and I divorced. So Eric doesn't remember much about Ohio, either. Eric didn't like the weather in Illinois, either. Right after her graduated, he went to Pensacola for a month of schooling, and then he was stationed in San Diego and the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. Eric has been stationed out of Coronado Island ever since. He's now on 2-3 years shore duty. I love it, because he is only 5 1/2 hours from home. Where does your daughter want to be stationed?
Thanks Anita. Yeah she said its very different weather than AZ. We're originally from OH so I know about the winters. Although she was young when we moved here so that's why she wasn't prepared..lol. Yep we're getting a new & improved camera just for PIR..lol. Already wrote her & told her to order the DVD when ordering her photo package..lol. And thanks for Congrats. Congratulations to you as well on your Son & I thank him for his service.
Hi, BDee76! Saw your daughter is graduating on January 27. My son graduated on February 4, 6 years ago. Be prepared to be very cold - so dress warmly, with mittens, a hood, scarf, boots, etc! It snowed while we were there for Eric's graduation - they marched into the ceremony in the snow! I went to Burlington Coat Factory and bought a full-length wool coat with a hood - so glad I did. Of course, I haven't worn it since! And be sure to take fully-charged cameras and video camera, if you have one. You will want to watch and re-watch this for years to come! I even had a DVD made of it. Congratulations to your daughter!
Yeahhhhh....I got the form letter today :). Also a small letter written on back. I was really surprised she didn't sound down except for the weather & hours spent awake..lol. That was a big relief for me :). Still a little emotional since it was her handwritting so cried of course. List her graduation as 01/27 so I guesstimated correctly (praying nothing changes) lol. Mixed emoitions at the moment...so happy to hear she doing well & getting the letter but a little sad @ seeing her handwriting. Will be sending out more letters tomorrow :).
Sherri,
Thanks, & I know what you mean I am learning new things everyday that helps to know what she's going through. My husband is retired Air Force but we weren't together during his Military Career so the whole thing is new to me. Just sent out the letters today that I've been writing since she left . I got an idea from another Mom that I'm going to use. Going to send her a journal & have one myself. We both love to write so will write in mine everyday & I'm sure she'll do the same when she can. Of course I'm going to her PIR wouldn't miss in for anything in the world. Going to exchange our journals that weekend & start new ones when she gets in A school :). I'm so glad I joined this site it has helped so much. Thanks to all the Moms that help because it does mean alot to have someone to talk to that knows how things are/were.
Welcome BDee, this forum really helped me when my daughter left for BC almost a year ago. I learned soooo much from everyone which allowed me to know what she was going through, even though I served in the Navy, but that was such a long time ago and so much has changed since then. Write her often, send pictures (printed on paper). My daughter loved my letters and saved every one of them. And if at all possible, go to her graduation (Pass in Review), it is amazing!
