Welcome BDee !

I don't have much to add to what Jane and Kathy have already said, except we are soooo glad you joined us!

And now that you have your SR's ship/div, be sure to join that particular forum as well, and also for her PIR date. You will get tons of support on those as well, and learn lots as your daughter moves through BC.

Stay in touch....and ask anything! If we don't know the answer, we will certainly try to find it for you. We're all in the same boat !!!!

Thank you for allowing your daughter to serve our country!

Daughter shipped out for BC 11/22. Been an emotional week but couldn't be more proud of her. Waiting on Form Letter so I can send letters I've been writing already.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Barb, and everyone else!  So happy for you, Barb, that your sailor is home.  Mine is coming in Wednesday night, after picking up his little boy in Prescott.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" everyone! Our sailor is home, so not spending too much time on the computer!  Just toooo excited for words!

Kathy...so glad to hear about your OS-3's accomplishments! All the best to him!

Update... I spoke with our sailor in more depth. Got more info. This may not be the case for all ETs, (so don't quote me!)  but ...in his case...he is going to San Diego Dec 2 through March for part of C school. Then more C school in Norfolk. Then, more training abroad...so then he'll be on the USS Germantown...home base in Sasebo, Japan.

He said to get overseas training, he first had to be approved and accepted by a sponsor....which he said he has...by a Senior Chief. I guess this is a standard procedure. Someone else told me that this Sr. Chief will probably be his "boss."

He's been busy with all the formalities/legal stuff (paperwork etc)  but he said things have really been moving along well. Most paperwork is done, now he just needs to take PRT (physical fitness test). Also had to get another shot for susceptibility to TB.  yuck.

He said he is still really happy that he is an ET...because he will have the opportunity to attend more C schools and train for various aspects within the field.

He's happy...that makes me happy!! And can't wait to see him in a couple weeks!

ThanksMom - Wow!  I'd fly to Pennsylvania for free dental work, too.  Especially if a dentist here wanted over $2,200 to do it!
