Hi my3sonsaz, we are near Desert Ridge.  We were at MEPS about 9:30ish.  We were able to see him swear in and give him one last HooYah before they took him to the airport.

The only advice I can give, send him with a phone card.  We purchased ours at Circle K for $5 and did a practice call while he was here at home.  Be patient and ALWAYS keep your phone close by, you never know when they will be calling.  We had a send off to bc party for our son and all that showed up wrote encouraging messages on a note card.  Once we got the address I addressed the notes and I send one everyday, plus whatever I write him :)  That has been a tremendous help to keeping his head up.

There is a Navyformom's luncheon at Macayo's on 8/3, you should come so we can all get to know each other and be there for support.

Best of Luck to your son!  Tell him to think about the end result!!  Hugs!

Hello everyone! My son leaves Tuesday for boot camp. I'm working really hard on controlling my tears. :) He's excited and ready to go! Any final words of wisdom? We plan on being at the MEPS center early Tuesday morning...just wondering what times others got there for your recruits. We live in Anthem...any other moms from the north valley in this group? Looking forward to being on this journey with all of you! I'm incredibly proud and also incredibly sad all at the same time! :)

My son met two girls at MEPS when they departed on 6/23 from AZ.  They were looking out for one another, sat on the plane together and I would love to check in with their moms.  One was from Parker and the other from Gilbert, I believe.  Send me a private message if you are on here and read this.  Thanks!

Welcome Iamtheboyscouts! So glad to have someone near us going though the same experiences. Sounds like you are doing all the right things! If you have any questions up until the time he leaves, I can try helping best I can. Was your FS in DEPS?

Hello All, I am located in the magic zip code as well @Alicia in AZ. My future sailor is leaving for BC on July 8th. I try to remain excited so he cannot see that I am sad that he is leaving but some days just discussing all the items he needs to complete before he leaves brings tears to my eyes. We have been spending the last week together, doing movies and his favorites dinners. Great to know there is some local support. Look forward to the support and building relationships.
