This is on the news wires, so I think I can say this--Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates spoke at the Economics Club of Chicago this morning.

Ok, Ruth, what do you know that I don't know.....I know there was a big ceremony there yesterday.....headed by the MCPON, Rick West. Could this be it?

Hi Lorei - Your son is a HT, am I correct? What stage is he in his training? Is he on hold or has he started A school? "Leave" requires a chit and it depends on how many days he has built up at 2.5 days a month; leave is not limited to the 300 mile limit. "Liberty" does not come from his leave days and liberty is limited to the 300 mile limit from base. I do know that Gary T. picks his son up on his "duty free" weekends on a Friday and returns him at the end of the weekend. Gary's son is a GM; and I do not know if it is different for a HT. I will leave the rest of the answer to the experts....Hope I helped a bit.

Morning Will - been missing you on here!

Gary T - see there is your miracle for today...you get to go to the concert.

Gary T - Yes, sounds like you have a long day ahead. I hope something works out so it won't be so lengthy for you. Have a safe trip.

Melanie - Yes, I will be home tonight and will have my phone attached to my hip. lol lol I have had a call from a TX # and I didn't recognize it as the one you gave me some time back. It just dawned on me that it probably is your home phone. So, try again please!

Dori - I am not a fog person, but looking at 105 here today, I'd take some of your fog and be very happy with it.

WELCOME TO CINDY - Most of us are ahead of you on here, but we are all here to support you as a new NAVY MOM....I'm sure you will find other members whose sailors will PIR on 7/24. What is your son going to be in the Navy?

Good morning! Pictures, Images and Photos

Okay, my info may be way old, but the way tests worked when I was in was: on a computer, the questions came up one at a time. One hopes the format and technology have vastly improved. A paper test, yes, they can go back and forth, a very good technique. One of the things i used to teach was how to study and how to take tests.

Good morning! A fog bank has moved in making visibility limited.

Lauren and Julie, I am sorry that your sailors are having difficulty with their courses. I don't know if they have to answer questions in the order given or not. If they do not, I suggest that they skim through the test until they find something that they know for sure. Then skim for a second thing. This builds confidence and calms the student down. In addition, they may see something in a question that gives them a hint at another answer. If they start at the beginning and have the bad luck to get a question for which they do not answer, they can panic and bog down. Too much time can be spent on that question. Many times it is test anxiety that is creating the problem.

Debbie - doesn't it seem like a short time to us; probably to them, too! HAGN
