Found info on Thanksgiving for Our Sailors at Great Lakes, I'm sure they will love this!

USO on base who throw a humungous feast and many activities for them. They start advertising on the Facebook pages and on base so everyone is aware. I think there's even contests as well. They can watch football, feast, relax, not worry about commuting anywhere and making it back on time, and enjoy a day of camaraderie with their fellow Sailors.

Wonderful picture!  Sadly, many of the junior enlisted choose not to attend events like Navy Balls.  Some think it just isn't cool.  It can be though, and a fun time.  Encourage them to do so next year if they aren't on duty or at sea!  Even the deployed ships have a nice Navy Birthday dinner and ceremony.

My son went!  His girlfriend drove down for the weekend.  He was also the youngest sailor there and got to cut the cake with the oldest sailor.  He met the commander while doing that and got a  coin from him.  He was really excited about the whole thing!  I am so glad he is taking the opportunity to go to things like this!
