So, My son finally got a graduation date of March 8th!!  YAY!!!  And his orders came in to Norfolk, which I am sooooo happy!!!  But question is, he thinks he will be sent on March 9th but doesn't have to report until April 4th.  What do they do in the meantime there?  Is there stuff they have to do?

Hello Everyone,

I know that there has been questions about the Frocking Ceremony.  I attended it at Great Lakes yesterday.  It was a nice relaxed ceremony.  Lasted about 45 Minutes.  Probably 25 or so that advanced.  This was a ceremony for E.T.'s  If the sailor had someone there they were called up to pin them.  They then received there certificate.  We had about 1/2 hour after the ceremony to spend with him.

HI Ladies,

One thing I've learned about the Navy so far is, HURRY UP AND WAIT!!!

Our sailor is happy and safe (though bored), he has been on hold since August!!! He seems to have made some amazing friends and has learned so much during his time in GL.  We had a wonderful visit with him this winter and thought we wouldn't see him again for about another year...luckily, we may get a bonus visit in the next few weeks, before he heads off to his next adventure!!!

summer_girl that's how my son feels he thinks beginning of March.  He is more frustrated that he change ships this week.  He said everyone at his rate changed.  I am hopeful that means they are getting ready to begin the class.  Or maybe it means nothing.  :)

Hi runnermom - my son is in a similar situation - he has been on hold since 1/22.  He is also in good spirits, but he is definitely ready to get started.  He heard a rumor he was starting on 2/20, but nothing official.  He said some kids have been on hold for months...he is a little worried about waiting that long, but understands it's out of his control, so he's just trying to make the best of it.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I am still waiting for my Sailor to begin A school. He has been on hold since mid-January.  He feels like he will be starting in March.  He sounds like he is in good spirits so that is the important thing.
