Good reminder on the OPSEC, Allison.  Thank you.

Technically, frocking is when they get to wear their new paygrade/rate, receive the benefits of rate, and take on the responsibilities.  They may not actually advance and be paid for it until a little later.  Otherwise, it would be an advancement ceremony.  Frocking is at the convenience of the command, they tend to choose a time when a group is moving forward together.  Sometimes there is no ceremony other than what is done at muster, but it seems as if some of the schools at Great Lakes are making a nice show of it.

Just a friendly reminder as people get moved around and start deploying, make sure you’re keeping OPSEC in mind. There really are people out there who piece this stuff together. So far, I haven’t seen anything super concerning, but just wanted to remind everyone. A good general rule is if it’s not already public knowledge, as in you couldn’t google it right now and easily find the info, best to keep it to yourself. Also, never correct anyone. If someone says the USS whatever is leaving say 10am feb 14, but your sailor is on that ship and you know they actually don’t leave until 9 am feb 15, just don’t say anything. The same goes for anyone asking for info. It sounds a bit heartless, especially in a group all about support, but you just never know.

No Problem Buttereball, we all learn together.  Apparently, the Frocking Ceremony must be approx. 1 week after graduating from A School.  His Graduation was pushed back from last Friday to Monday, because of the snow storm, now his Frocking is being pushed back from this Friday to next Tuesday (Monday is President's Day).  Best of luck to you and your sailor.

Good Morning Ladies hope all is well this Tuesday Morning.

Congratulations BandMom to your Sailor and his Promotion how exciting! My Son Graduated January 31st was sent to his duty station in San Diego, North Island (Coronado) that Thursday. and this past Sunday  he Left. He was caught off Guard as was I, but it was bound to happen. Looks like they are needing their Trade or Rate out on the ships. I know he will be fine. When I got Home yesterday I received a surprise call from him, so he made it safe to his destination. Looked really tired and Hungry, just waiting Patiently for his plane to get him to his ship.Good Luck and Best wishes to your Son

Congrats to you both and your sailors! I'm still waiting for my sailor to finish A school, but he's well on his way. I know I don't speak out often, but I see your messages and I keep you and your sailors in my thoughts and prayers. Fair winds and following seas to those moving on from our Great Lakes A School community.
