That's my son too.  He just started ET A school Friday.  He will be home Dec 17th-Jan 2nd too.  I am wondering why some have to be there until Dec 22nd though?

Wow Dawn--Love the poem!!  That first stanza---how true!!!  :) My son is coming home the 18th and returning to GL the 1st.  I don't know about the medical aspect.  It doesn't apply to him...

I am assuming all of the sailors coming home Dec 22 and getting back Jan 1 must be medical?  I guess they have to be there last and be back first.  Does that sound accurate??

I love the poem, Dawn. Thanks for sharing. The weather in GL must be horrible! My daughter said she's never felt cold like that and can hardly walk upright in the wind. And it's only December!  She'll be home from the 22nd to the 1st and I can't wait!!

Dawn, you made that up?  Really?  That is terrific.  Thanks for sharing and you are right, so very true.  Enjoy your time with your sailor.  I know I will.

My son just told me he would wear his blues off the plane.  Earlier I asked him if he would and he said not on my life, then he called me back and said he had to??  Maybe he just said he has to for my benefit, but he is going to wear them.  Sooooooo happy.  So great to hear the stories that the sailors are coming home.  Yea for us!!  Congrats to all that have seen there kids already and hang on tight for all who haven't yet.  We are getting there.  3 days for me.

Dawn-thanks!

That is awesome that a vet would do that. Your holiday show must have been a wonderful time for them. You are right about the vets are the ones how understand the sacrifice of serving your country. And it very fails to disgust me to hear of people being nasty to those in our armed forces. Small minded people.

Just talked to Paul- the night class will be shortened on thur and they will be let out at 6:00pm. So that will help hopefully in them getting some sleep before the 2:00am call! Though who's gonna be sleeping? I know I'm not!

My daughter will also be coming home on the 22nd. I'll see if I can get some info from her. I know the shuttle will pick them up at the base, but I don't know the details. Too bad they can't coordinate and share the cost, huh?

Anchor mom, that's great you've got him home! I'm sure his brother was thrilled to have him there at his concert.

Comment by Anchor Mom5 on December 14, 2010 at 12:19pm

My son arrived home last night dressed in his Navy Blues, and than went to our youngest sons Christmas concert wearing them.  we live in a small town and after the concert only one man came up to him and thanked him for serving.  the gentleman was a retired sailor himself.  I love to see our son in uniform!  He has not mentioned it about being uncomfortable being the center of attention, however before he went in I know he hated being the center of attention!  I should ask him and than get back to you!
