Congrats to all the divisions on competing in Captain's Cup. My son's div came in 2nd.
I went to the forum tab above and typed in Captain's Cup- Anyone know the details. Then I clicked on "All I know is that is a competition between Divisions and an honor for the Division…" Saw a couple of pictures.

LindaB/Sandy-my son said that he is going anyway. My sons are very close and he does not want to disappoint his little brother. Pray things work out for him when he returns.

The adopt a sailor program sends sailors to a families house of other sailors who are deployed.

There is a VFW hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for Sailors up my GL! If you join the group for Illinois N4M, someone has put up info. My sailor is in the adopt a sailor program, maybe your sailor could ask about that program.

Proud Navy Mom, his chances of leave for Thanksgiving are slim, especially if he wants to take the holiday stand down leave. This isn't "free" time off like liberty, going home over Thanksgiving would burn his earned leave days. He can ask, but I'd think no. A 13 hour drive is well beyond liberty limits. He may even have duty and the students who are already there have already put in their leave requests.

Does anyone know what local options there are for Thanksgiving sailors on hold for A school in Great Lakes that can't come home? Any families in the area hosting Sailors at their home for dinner, etc.?

StarChild, that is so sad. I can relate to what your son is going through with his boss. I used to have a boss like that. Always changing his mind. Lets pray that he changes his mind back.

IF it were me, I would have told my boss that I had already bought the tickets and have to go. Nothing on earth would have kept me from Brenden's PIR.
Can't stand bosses like that. So inconsiderate.

StarChild, that is so awful! But at least you will be there and that is so important to your recruit. Who knows? Maybe his supervisor will change his mind? I'll pray that his supervisor changes his mind. HANG IN THERE!

I am a little bummed out. My oldest son's supervisor told him yesterday that he could not take the time off to go to the PIR . This is after telling him two weeks ago that he could. We started out with four people and now it is just me:(
