We did PIR on 12-4 and it was awesome! Thomas is doing A school for AE at GL and I'm still waiting on his new address and all the info. He thought he should know something by tomorrow and I sure hope so! I got spoiled last weekend getting to see him and now I'm missing him all over again!

Hi All;
I'm new to this group, my son should be moving to Great Lakes A school tomorrow. Any help you can give me in this new adventure in my son's life would be greatly appreciated.

Good roommates are priceless. I still get a holiday letter from one of mine, I have shared all her family triumphs and tears... and I have not seen her for 30 years.

LOL, Connie... I have rowdy stories too, I tend not to share them. My friends all think my Navy stories start with, "This one time when we were really, really drunk...."

Like the time in Japan my friend decide he needed a light bulb from the torch of the Statue of Liberty on top of the Love Hotel sign. In the rain. Six stories up. About three in the morning I think. He went up the stairs of the apartment building behind the hotel. jumped over three stories up, and shimmied up the drainpipe. Then he climbed through the neon sign (!!!), the high voltage neon sign. Did I mention the rain? Yikes. He settled for a light from the base of Lady Liberty, she was too slick to climb on. No, we were not egging him on, but we didn't call security either. Ah kids. We were all E-5s at the time..... yeah, we definitely should have known better.

Ah, barracks roommates. I've had some who became lifelong friends, others I wanted to take into the gear locker and smack them around. There's a reason I got my own apartment as soon as I could in Japan. My roommate there was terrible, took up most of the room, didn't want me to use the bathroom before her but she wouldn't get up early enough in the morning for us both to be ready, and wanted the heat up high in the room at night. I can't sleep in a hot room. She wouldn't talk any of this over with me, she'd just yell at me and complain at work. we didn't work together, but we were at the same command, so we knew al the same people. I HATED her. LOL. But my bed was under the thermostat....

And then there was my gay roommate, nice girl and I could have cared less about her choices... except she was dating a gal who worked for me. In the days before don't ask don't tell, you could be busted for knowing and not reporting. Room changes were never authorized. We had a very sympathetic female CO, I requested a private Captain's Mast so I could talk with her in confidence. She didn't care about who was gay either, but she arranged for me to switch rooms as the gal who was dating my roomie was having severe problems with her roommate. Turns out my new roomie was just a little OCD and we worked it out just fine.

I have tons of stories....

Tyler leaves O-Hare about 12:30 PM and will arrive in Jackson, MS about 4:40 PM. It's about 1 hour to our house.

Gatormom: I have family that lives in Little Rock and Texarkana. I'm about 5 hours from Texarkana.

Connie: Tyler is an only child too so I know he is extremely spoiled. I just pray he'll keep his room clean while he's home.

Well, for southern Mississippi.....snow and cold over the weekend... it's about 51 here today...supposed to be 70 tomorrow with chance of tornados...hope it's decent winter temps when Tyler gets home from GL on the 18th. We never know what kind of weather we'll get. We say... If you're too cold today, just hang on, you'll be too hot tomorrow!

What is FATS course...is it related to gunners mate?
