Will, this past weekend was Victoria's last in GL. She was bummed out that the first weekend she arrived on the A school side, she had dog duty and the last weekend she had dog duty. She figures she got two extra weekends because of that ... just paying her dues!

Did you and your wife get to the Harry Potter movie? I tried but it was sold out. it was a rainy day and every kid in Ellsworth was at the movie theater! It will only be here for a couple more days. I'll have to go soon or wait for the DVD.

Hi all...I hope you all had a great weekend!!
Theresa- WooooHoooo for Nick; that's great he is 3rd in his class. Michael told me today that he graduates towards the end of September. I will be home about the 13-15th of August. I may stay in SoCal for a couple of days for my daughter's birthday.
A Huge Welcome to Lina40! You will enjoy being part of our extended Navy family. What is your daughter going to be in the Navy?
I'm signing off for tonight....catch you all in a day or two.

Good morning all and I hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

Laurie - good to see you on here; it's been a long time. I hope you are doing well and Josh is enjoying his Navy life now. Let me hear from you and we can catch up.

Theresa - Hey...Miss you, too! I am having a blast and enjoying every minute of my time here with my family. You are about 6 hours away by car.....Darn, if it were only 3, we could work something out. I hate to be so near, but so far!!! Hope all is well with you and Nick.

Great news, Hoppi. Victoria told me that she was in the NEX yesterday and a "bunch of chiefs" were uniform shopping. So I had to get on to find out what is going on. Congratulations!

My son, Tyler, is going to graduate bootcamp on 08/07/09, (hopefully). When he gets to A school in Great Lakes, should he consider getting rental insurance to cover his electronic devices (cell, ipod, computer)?

And I was thinking of real ships, the sea-going kind, not the barracks.

(I hate that they call the barracks "ships". That's just confusing).
Comment by Anti M on August 1, 2009 at 9:14am
Grace, that would be bottom to top, and it depends on the size of the ship. But basically, the work center supervisor (sometimes), LPO, chief (maybe, if they have one), division officer, department head, XO, CO.

Rank will vary for div-o and dept, heads.

LPO = Leading Petty Officer, usually an E-6

XO = Executive Officer

CO = Commanding Officer

Congrats Hoppi! Time for uniform shopping, yes? And do they still do initiations for chiefs? The book?
