Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Comment by SusanL on April 4, 2017 at 9:29pm: Our SR ships 4/12/17. I'm really trying to focus on "right now". My mind has been trying to race ahead to the day he checks in at MEPS , his ship day, BC, PIR and his next ship day. I own a yoga studio so I'm trying to practice everything I've learned about trying to be in the moment and avoid anxiety. I'm a planner so I'm trying to take care of the things that I can take care of now and let the rest unfold . BUT there's not much to stop the sudden outburst of tears. I hope to figure that out next. lol

Comment by 3 boy mom on March 31, 2017 at 5:35pm: My son left on 3/29/17 he was supposed to leave in May, He was called by his recruiter on 3/21/17 telling him he had to leave on the 29th, I was not prepared for this news, he came by work to tell me and it was very emotional, the next few days were hard. Saying goodbye to your child is difficult especially when you know you will get that last call then not hear from them for sometime, Wednesday was a very hard day, I pray that he is doing fine. I cant wait to get his form letter so that I can send his letters.
