LOVE the countdown clock!
Jessica...I took your advice and removed my son's photo..I just hope it's not too late. Is it okay to put my photo on there?
Angela...please delete your post with your son's name in it and send it by private message....read the commandments in the discussion forum...lol
One final thing...one thing I remember about these first 3 weeks is how out of the loop I felt, not knowing anything...so I asked my sailor if when he comes home on the 19th if he would take some time in that next week and answer some questions you might about what boot camp is really like. He has completed it recently enough that it is still fresh in his memory. So get your questions ready...lol!! Of course...if you don't want to ask him any questions...that's okay too!!
Hi all, my name is Lynne and I am one of the seasoned moms who will be dropping by to answer questions along with Jessica and Dianne. Although, let me say I am the newbie of the bunch. My son PIR'd in November. He is currently in Pensacola, having the time of his life I might add because he is on hold for classes. His rate is AE, which is Aviation Electronics. He told me he would be starting classes nine days after arriving at Pensacola, and I said according to navy for moms it would be more like after Christmas....guess who was right...yeppers...the old navy for moms network. I tell you this so you know that you will probably know as much or more than your recruit by the time you graduate from boot camp.
Oh you didn't think it was just your recruit that was going to boot camp did you. Well, sorry I have news for you, when your recruit signed up, so did you. In your time here, you will earn your Navy stripes: proud and strong. In this room you will get to know many people, you will worry together, cry together, get angry together, and even laugh together, but most importantly you will become part of the Navy family. You and your recruit will grow and change. It won't be easy, but it will be amazing.
In the next couple days I will be adding some things to your site like how to order a blue star flag and what the navy says about how to display it, some questionaires and my commandments about how NOT to get your recruits in trouble at boot camp. I am sure none of you want to be responsible for your recruit getting "beat" at boot camp. Don't panic...a beating...is simply extra physical training...but they don't like it...lol! RDCs can and DO read these sites so we have to take some steps to insure that nothing we do cause our recruits to get in trouble. Jessica is absolutely right in the things that she has said. Now some moms doubt us about our suggestions, me specifically, because mine are pretty conservative...so here is my suggestion...go to the discussion forum...copy and paste the commandments into one of your letters...send them to your recruit and ask them which ones pertain to them...you will probably be surprised...lol
Potsie...I saw you asking about asking too many questions...there is no such thing. We will answer the same questions over and over as new people join and sometimes you will have to hear it a few times and then it will be like the proverbial light bulb going off. There are no dumb questions and none you can ask too often. This is your group and we are here to support you.
I might as well warn you, I am the long-winded one. What Jessica can say in 2 lines takes me 3 paragraphs...so I am sorry up-front...lol! I can tell you all are going to be fun just by your names...tackijacky....luvpuggies...too fun. I am also the name police...please make sure you do not have your recruits name, picture or nickname in your screen name. I know you are proud of your recruit and so am I...but they want to fly under the radar.
Hi all!!!!! OMG I cant believe this is happening....We were just on the other side of the fence and here we are sitting on the fence! hahahahahhaha I am so excited reading all this... I am not sure if I am even 2/4/11! ;) But I know most of you and I wanted to join in,,, I may be like BB on 2/11/11.
smichelle-2/4? I have not gotten anything yet! I am thinking he will be 2/11 I am not sure. Can't believe you got info so soon. I thought it would be at least a week. I am looking forward to hearing where my son is and start sending the letters. hope that you are doing well.
Thanks for the heads up. I know these things, but sometimes its hard to remember. Old habits are hard to break.
I was watching one with my neice and we were both drying.
Oh my gosh, the one with the ';Proud to be an American' song, was ripping me apart with pride for my son, you know what i mean? lol
Good to know Jessica. Do you mean even without a ticket? Not that im bringing a bunch, but my 4 tix are already accounted for, but my mother -in -law was asking.
If i cant take her, thats ok! lol. Rules are Rules :)
