I was surprised how quickly I got the call to come pick up my son after PIR.  I expected to be waiting several hours.  We went to lunch and had just arrived back at our room to wait when he called!  Also, we were allowed to drive onto base to deliver him back to his ship each night so that have us a little extra time with him!

It was sooooo great seeing him!  He has matured into a man now (and he's only 18).  It's also great now that he has his phone!  We can talk and txt!  Love it!

Thanks Paybacks & Beatrizm - it's good to hear from people who have been through it.

I can hardly wait for Friday and the weekend.  I had the longest call I've had with him today and was able to relax a bit & joke.  He told me where he will be in the group when they come in.  I'm so scared I won't recognize him, ha! ha!!

Ladies, My daughter graduated from bootcamp in May 2010, and I remember it like it was yesterday.  Congratulations on those of you that have received their phone calls!  I get goosebumps when I think about that phone call.

My daughter was able to be signed out in a couple of hours after PIR, but did not move to A school until the following week (Monday or Tuesday, I believe).  We were able to pick her up early on Saturday and Sunday, and then had to have her back on base by a specific time.  And paybacks398 is correct, DON'T BE LATE GETTING BACK.  Also, keep in mind how long it will take for your recruit to get back to his or her ship once they arrive at the gate, because their curfew means they have to be on their ship, NOT just on base.  And just one recruit being late can mean an earlier curfew for the entire division.  It happened to my daughter's division.

Otherwise, enjoy and be proud!
